The Wonderland mall on Abbas Al Akkad Street remained until
lately only famous for its mediocre amusement park even though it belonged to
one of the most popular hopping streets in Cairo. Luckily this began to change
when more brands and new shops began opening in the mall, including Rocky’s, a
new fast food joint that is right in the entrance of the mall.

With small seating area of three metal tables that match the
red and black sleek walls design with a small TV screen, it’s easy to put Rocky’s
in the takeaway category. However, it seems like taking a seat is inevitable
since the food takes a very long time to be prepared.

Sharing a wall with a considerable competitor, Prego, Rocky’s claim
to house the best fries in town. Indeed their French fries are a bit more
tasteful, crunchy, and thankfully not as oily as in other restaurants, but what
about the rest of the menu?

Among the standard burger, chicken and seafood sandwiches on
the menu, Rocky’s chicken (17.50LE) stood out the most. Layers of smoked turkey
and cheddar cheese on top of crispy chicken and lettuce make this signature
sandwich a must try. However, we wished it was as fast as it was delicious; it
took almost 40 minutes to be ready though the restaurant was nearly empty!

The super supreme rolled pizza (18LE) however, could have
used a bit more time in the oven, and it wasn’t a rolled pizza as it was wrapped
dough with pizza toping inside. It was delicious though, with salami, olives,
pepper and heavenly melted cheese. Rolled pizzas are also available with
Mexican hotdogs (17LE), BBQ chicken (19LE) and seafood mix (22LE).

The menu also features a number of salads and pastas such as
the Tuna salad (10LE) Chicken Alfredo mushroom pasta (21LE); you can also get a
side of pasts with any dish for just 6LE. The desserts menu however only
features three items of chocolate and cheese cake (7LE) and a cinnamon roll (8LE).

Rocky’s isn’t just another sandwich restaurant; including
pastas, salads and rolled pizzas in their menu does make it suitable “for every
mood” like their slogan says.  Though it
might take some waiting, the food at is worth it. Taking a look around the mall
until the order is ready may be our best option next time.
