With every week, Cairo life is slowly picking up the pace (despite that unwathering curfew);so we’ve got an
exciting weekend lineup of events for you this week.

Kick
your Thursday off with a night of Port Said resistance songs and music inspired by the Egyptian revolution courtesy of Egyptian folk band Tanboura at El Tanboura hall in Downtown. 

Over at the Cairo Jazz Club, regular guest vocalist Michelle Rounds will be wooing audiences with her smooth blend of r&b, soul, funk and jazz. The show starts at 6:30PM.

Want
something a little more international? Head to Music Freedom day
at Rawabet theatre, where Sudanese singer Abazar Hamid will perform in celebration of the International Music Freedom Day. The show starts at 8PM.

If you’re looking to do a little
charity while kicking it back: head to the Fairmont Nile City for their event
‘For the Love of Egypt.’ From 7PM till 11PM, shisha, drinks and barbeque will be served on the Magenta terrace, featuring live performances by bands such as The Riff Band. This event is organised in association withTawasol NGO,
with a percentage of profits going to the families of the revolution’s martyrs.

 Take advantage of your lazy, sunny Friday and head to Merghany Street in Heliopolis for the Street Music
Revolution, an all-day street festival where several local bands will perform in
celebration of January 25th and in hopes of keeping our country’s
streets safe and clean. Expect performances by Groove Yard, Malaleem, Abazar, Game Over and a number of
other rap crews.

Want to refresh the memory of January
25th events in your head? Head to Sawy on Friday for their ongoing January 25th
photography exhibition, where you’ll be able to browse through a collection of
both professional and amateur photography documenting the events of weeks past.

If
you’re up for a little theatre, El Sawy Culturewheel will host Ayamna El Helwa group led by Mohamed Osman at River Hall.The show starts at 9PM.

On Saturday morning, indulge your artistic appreciation and check out Ayyam
Gallery in Zamalek , which has reopened and resumed their solo exhibition of Syrian painter Thaier Helal. Entitled ‘Liberated Spirituality,’ the exhibition’s huge mixed media
canvases attempt to explain concepts through abstraction and color.

On Satyrday evening, El Sawy Culturewheel will have a busy day, featuring a free seminar on the January 25th revolution in River Hall at 10AM, a musical performance by the
band Yorka with their Spanish influenced sound at Wisdom Hall, and the loud, exciting beats of the Percussion Show at 8PM.
