‘Global Slum’ by Maryam Jafri at Beirut
Maryam Jafri is fascinated with denotations of images; the scene projected by a photograph and the reality surrounding it. ‘Global Slum’ is a collection of images taken in various places and institutions around the world, and whatever connotations we draw from them, Jafri highlights that they are all, in fact, places of labour which have numerous impacts upon individuals and the economy.
