As Ramadan approaches, the anticipation for this year’s TV lineup is at its peak, especially in the comedy genre. Some of the biggest stars are returning to the small screen, and the mix of new concepts, familiar faces, and bold creative choices makes for an exciting season. However, with comedy being one of the hardest genres to master, not all shows will necessarily hit the mark.
From established comedy veterans to surprising new collaborations, here’s a deep dive into the most anticipated comedy shows, breaking down what excites us and what makes us cautious.

Among last year’s comedies, Ashghal Sha2a stood out as the undisputed leader, delivering laughs with a fresh and engaging premise. Hisham Maged, already on a roll with three films and a TV series in the same year, cemented his status as one of the most consistent comedic talents in entertainment. His signature humour, subtle, deadpan, and rooted in reactions rather than exaggerated antics, has made him one of the best comic actors working today.
The show’s structure, featuring a new housekeeper every few episodes, brought unpredictability and variety, keeping audiences entertained throughout. With the trailer for the upcoming season hinting at a similar format, fans are eager to see if it introduces fresh twists. One aspect missing from the previous season that could add even more comedic gold is the dynamic between the mothers, something that has the potential to bring out hilariously sharp interactions.
Shehadet Mo3amlet Atfal
One of the biggest names in comedy, Mohamed Henedy, is back with Shehadet Mo3amlet Atfal, directed by Sameh Abdel Aziz, a filmmaker with an impressive track record in both comedy and drama. The duo previously collaborated on Ard El Nefaq, which was considered his last genuinely humorous work. Sameh is also known for directing the cult-favourite Hamlet Freezer, one of the most successful comedies of the past decade. Adding to the anticipation is writer Mohamed Suleiman Abdel Malek, who has worked on acclaimed dramas like Soot w Soura and Rag3een Ya Hawa while also proving his comedic abilities with Tamer w Shaw2eya.
Despite the strong team behind it, the biggest concern is Henedy himself. His recent film choices have been underwhelming, and fans who have given him multiple chances are hesitant to invest in another project. Additionally, the show lacks a strong supporting cast, raising questions about whether the humour will rely solely on Henedy. Another red flag is the mid-production director change from Wael Farag to Sameh Abdel Aziz, which could affect the final product.
Aysha El Dor
Comedy director Ahmed Gendy is a name synonymous with success. His resume includes iconic projects like El Kbeer Awi, Bank El Hazz, Wa2fet Regala, and Nelly w Sherihan. His ability to craft laugh-out-loud moments while maintaining a compelling storyline makes his projects must-watch TV.
This time, he teams up once again with Donia Samir Ghanem, whose comedic timing and versatility have cemented her as one of the most beloved actresses in entertainment. Yet, what made her past sitcoms work was the strong supporting cast with actors like Mostafa Khater, Ali Rabie, and Hamdy El Merghany, balancing the humour.
However, this time, the only dedicated comedian in the cast is Mohamed Tharwat. While he has his fanbase, his comedic style often leans on excessive reactions rather than natural wit. If the series relies too heavily on his antics, it may feel forced rather than genuinely funny. The hope is that the writing and story will provide situational comedy rather than overused punchlines.

Amy Samir Ghanem is one of the most effortlessly funny actors, known for her ability to make audiences laugh with minimal effort. Her return to television is exciting, especially with a supporting cast featuring Enaam Salousa, Ismail Farghaly, Haggag Abdel Azim, Arafa Abdel Rasoul, Alaa Morsy, and Suleiman Eid, all of whom are known for their natural comedic charm. The director, Alaa Ismail, gave us last year’s comedic gem El Sofara, while the writers, Ahmed Saad Waly and Alaa Hassan, have a mixed record with past works like Saber w Rady and Tani Tani. Also, her husband, Hassan El Raddad, co-stars, and their last collaboration, Azmi w Ashgan, was far from well-received.

Few actors maintain consistently high-quality projects like Ahmed Amin. Even his weaker performances never fall hard. The wildcard here is the director, Hossam Ali, known for his dramatic hits like El Qahera Kabul, El Rehla, and 30 Youm. This will be his first foray into comedy, making it an interesting experiment. The story is based on Mokhatarat Nashal, set in the 1920s, which provides a fresh period backdrop for comedy. The cast includes talents like Sedky Sakhr, Abdelrahman Mohamed, Hamza El Aly, and Asmaa Abou El Yazeed, adding depth to the performances.

This series marks Abdelaziz El Naggar’s first venture into comedy after directing Lahzet Ghadab and Hala Khasa. Writer Mohamed Ragaa is making a return to comedy after years of focusing on dramas like Foq Mostawa El Shobohat and Leila w Elly Fiha. The show stars Essam Omar, who proved his versatility in Balto and features Mohamed Mahmoud, one of Egypt’s most naturally funny actors. The show follows a romance between Esam Omar and Mayan El Sayed, exploring the humorous conflicts between their families.

Akram Hosny has a proven comedic track record, and this series features a strong ensemble cast, ensuring the humour isn’t solely reliant on him. The biggest advantage is director Moataz El Tony, one of the most respected names in comedy. However, there are slight concerns regarding the writers. Ayman El Shaib has only two previous works, neither of which are well-known, but Amr El Daly has an impressive resume of B 100 Wesh, proving that he understands humour, which is promising.
