Egypt is filled with tons of historical sites and brilliant museums to visit. It’s unfortunate that the closer you are to such places, the more you take these sights for granted, and the less motivation you’ll have to go and visit them. However, if you manage to get off the couch, you’ll find there’s a whole beautiful world out there waiting for you.
Even with these adjustments in prices, all historical places in Cairo are incredibly cheap to visit, especially for Egyptians, and even more so for Egyptian students. So when you’re planning your next outing, make sure to include one of the following places.
Pyramids of Giza
The glorious Pyramids of Giza are relatively close to most places in Cairo. Prices are 20 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 160 EGP for foreigners.
New Saqqara Burial Ground
This lesser known, but equally brilliant, historical site is a must-visit. Prices are 10 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 60 EGP for foreigners.
Saqqara Pyramid
This is another historical site that doesn’t receive enough visitors. Prices are 10 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 120 EGP for foreigners.
Ain Shams Obelisk
The tall and grand obelisk is a sight to behold. Prices are 5 EGP for Egyptians, 3 EGP for Egyptian students, and 60 EGP for foreigners.
Dahshur Monuments
This place holds some of the lesser-known pyramids, but is still worth the visit. Prices are 5 EGP for Egyptians, 3 EGP for Egyptian students, and 60 EGP for foreigners.
Bahariya Oasis
Bahariya Oasis is one of those places that is simply majestic to witness. Prices are 10 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 100 EGP for foreigners.
Dakhla Oasis & Kharga Oasis
There are tons of historical sites in the area of each of these oases. Prices for Dakhla & Kharga Oases are the same: 10 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 120 EGP for foreigners, for each Oasis.
Oyun Musa
Translating to, “the springs of Moses”, these freshwater springs are found in South Sinai and are said to be where Moses drank during the Israelite Exodus. Prices are 10 EGP for Egyptians, 5 EGP for Egyptian students, and 40 EGP for foreigners.
