Sushiramis: The Semiramis InterContinental Cairo Opens its New Sushi Sanctuary
Cairo 360
For as long as Cairo 360 has been around, there have been few constants on the capital’s food scene. One of the few, however, has been the food at the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo. We’ve visited the Garden City hotel regularly over the years, be it for a lavish media event or one of our anonymous reviews, and there’s just something about its award-winning restaurants, like its stunning Thai restaurant Birdcage, that we still haven’t quite been able to put our finger on.
The mystery promises to go deeper with the newest member of the family, Sushiramis. Word play aside, the restaurant has now joined the hotel’s pantheon of dining options and if this month’s special launch event is anything to go by, it’s shaping up to be another impressive notch on the hotel’s belt.
With some of Cairo’s most popular foodies, influencers and media personalities in attendance, the event saw Sushiramis lay out a spread of its finest sushi and sashimi, as well as some rather interesting salads. The variety on show demonstrated the kitchen’s precision with the classics, as well as more creative touches with some of its more innovative and interesting pieces.
With experienced chefs, ApinanKongsitha and Raoul Castro, orchestrating the magic in the kitchen, Sushiramis has also managed to retain one of the best traits of sushi – its easiness and convenience. You see, in addition to being available to takeaway, anything on the Sushiramis menu can be ordered and served at any of the hotel’s other restaurants. So, you want a side of nigiri with your shish tawouk at their Lebanese restaurant, Sabaya? No problem. Is the only thing that can make your risotto better at their Italian eatery, Pane Vino, some nigiri? Of course, whatever you want. Fancy nibbling on some urumaki while you smoke shisha and take in the view at Nile Terrace? The world is your oyster.
