Regheef Auf: Late Night Egyptian Food Cravings Hit The Spot

Even though Egyptians love meat, the country’s local cuisine relies heavily on vegetables and legumes mainly because veggies are much cheaper than meat. But Regheef Auf has come to beg to differ; they created a whole menu filled with all our favourite grilled items in a sandwich, making their menu pocket-friendly and easy to grab and go.
Regheef Auf already had two branches open in Nasr City and Mohandseen, and once we heard about their grand opening in 6th of October about a month ago, we couldn’t wait to try it out. Their new branch is opposite the Mall of Arabia before the Shooting Club. We headed there two days after its opening before midnight to satisfy our late-night cravings. The parking there is relatively straightforward; we parked and sat in their outdoor area surrounded by various other restaurants. After taking a seat, we browsed through their menu and decided to try five different sandwiches and split them all. We got the Filleto (LE 64), the Kofta (LE 44), the Sausage (LE 46), the Heart (LE 52), and the Tarb (LE 49).
The downside was that we waited so long until we got our order even though the place wasn’t crowded, but soon enough, we got our sandwiches with a side of fries and pickles.
The winner was definitely the Filleto sandwich as the meat was tender, juicy and quite tasty, and in second place came the heart sandwich, which more or less tasted like well-prepared liver. Perhaps the second downside was that the sandwiches were yearning for any sauce because the bites were dry. However, the homemade bread itself was pretty delicious and fresh.
All in all, our visit was pleasant, and the sandwiches were filling and very pocket friendly – you could easily have a proper meal for under LE 100. Even though our order was a bit late to arrive, the staff were very friendly, and the menu was interesting and diverse. The mood of the place suits those breezy summer nights and can be a great spot if you want to have a quick bite before heading home.
