Ramadan in Cairo 2013: Five Fetar Menus You Have to Try
Jessica Noble
With so many restaurants competing to break your fast, it can be difficult to choose where to head for the satisfying fetar you’ve been waiting all day for. This year, there’s a place for everyone and to help avoid disappointment, we’ve shortlisted some of our favourite venues with some of the most promising Ramadan menus from all over the city.
First off, possibly Cairo’s most beloved kitchen, Cairo Kitchen, are continuing to provide their traditional Egyptian cuisine, via set menus (120LE/pp), to hungry Cairenes at fetar time; for reservations, call 01001833699 or 01201808414. They also deliver in case you’re feeling a little too lazy to leave the house; call 16962 to summon your koshary-carrying, knight in shining armour.
Famous for their authentic Lebanese cuisine, Zeitouna are offering a set menu (139LE/pp) filled with all the fetar essentials; fruit juices, soups, mezzas, main courses and more. Believing the only thing better than Lebanese food is a lot of it, you’re sure to leave their bistro feeling satisfied. For bookings, call 0224619944 or for delivery call, 0224619766.
Zamalek’s favourite Nile-side hangout is back this year with a ‘special’ set menu (250LE/pp) for the first three nights, before switching to an open buffet (250LE+/pp) for the rest of the month. Of course, Sequoia is more than just a restaurant; it’s most famous for its breathtaking views of the Nile. We’ve got no doubt said views will help us to remember why we love Egypt during our long fasting hours. Because of Sequoia’s popularity, we’d recommend booking your table well in advance; call 0227350014.
