Maadi is home to a host of top notch restaurants that we just can’t help but go back to every once in a while, but few deserve that more than Ovio. Located amid the quiet streets of Maadi, right in the middle of the trees and villas of Street 18, Ovio’s first branch takes its spot at the Royal Maadi Hotel.
Ovio accommodates its clients through an indoor air-conditioned area, and an outdoor seating area for when the weather gets a bit cooler. Looking for a smooth and complete dining experience, we started our meal with Tomato Soup (45 EGP). Arriving half an hour later, it was hot, fresh, thick, and topped with toasted bread pieces. A perfect taste combination between a rich creaminess and a strong tomato flavour.
Our next course was the Apple Chicken Salad (98 EGP), topped with Parmesan cheese. The lettuce base had plenty of chicken, walnuts, and apple slices to keep us satisfied, and a perfect lemon vinegar dressing to elevate the taste.

We then moved on to a Margarita Pizza (98 EGP), which was absolutely stunning. The crust was thin and perfectly crunchy, and the tomato sauce was very unique. Perhaps we were looking for a bit more cheese, and the crust was a bit burnt on the edges, but otherwise it was perfect.
For our last dish, we chose the Funghi Chicken Pasta (98 EGP), which was penne pasta with white sauce, mushroom pieces, and a grilled chicken breast. Everything in the dish tasted great, but the sauce was really top notch, they got the texture just right.
Finally, we finished things off with a Lemon Ginger drink (39 EGP), which was the perfect thing to drink after a big meal. It was a bit too light on the sugar, but nothing that can’t be fixed.
As always, we were delighted with our dine-in at Ovio, and are sure to keep coming back for more visits. We’re glad to see it retain its quality and consistency.
