It’s quite interesting to try and analyse how people bond over certain topics, without previous discussions; like how, for example, all restaurants agreed on the importance of saving themselves a spot in Maadi’s Road 9. The vibrant street is filled to the brim with tons of cafés, restaurants, and food shops. While some come and go, others are here to stay. Given all this, we have decided to round-up the absolute best of Maadi’s Road 9.
When thinking about the top sushi restaurants in Egypt, Mori Sushi is definitely one of the first names that comes in to mind. Relying on fresh ingredients, and an unfathomably large menu, Mori Sushi will leave you spoilt for choice with some of the best sushi rolls in town.
Start off with their range of brilliant appetisers, move on to their mouthwatering burgers, and finish things off with delish desserts, at a restaurant that a lot of Cairenes has hailed as the undisputed king of comfort food.
Gringo’s Burrito Grill didn’t start in Road 9, but it landed there a while ago and it definitely looks like it’s here to stay. Tacos, nachos, burritos, enchiladas, they have it all. You can customize your own burritos and tacos from a variety of ingredients.
Street food doesn’t get much better than this. Kazouza are the masters of Egyptian street food, offering hawawshi, sogo2, and chicken liver sandwiches, plus a host of feteer options (oriental pies). While portions are a bit small, the food is definitely big in flavours, and the ambiance is quite intriguing with its Ahwa Baladi setting.
Look past the steep prices, and you will see that this is one of the best burger spots in town. The best thing about Fat Cow is their focus on bringing in quality meat, marinating it to perfection, and then adding whatever toppings onto an already delicious base.
Sharing is caring, and this motto is very much needed at Desoky & Soda. Whether you order feteer, ghomous, pastas, or a mix of everything, you’ll need a number of hands moving around at the table sharing the deliciousness. A piece of advice, make sure you diversify, and don’t miss out on desserts.
The Dahab-favourite decided to hit Egypt, and where will it go? Road 9, of course! The brilliant bakery has breakfast plates including sandwiches, omelets, and quiches. As for dessert, you can opt for a number of sweet baked goods, and finish off your meal with a bang.
