French cuisine is massive and intricate. There are many details that go into a single dish, from the ingredients used to the preparation. Over the past few months, many French restaurants have opened here in Cairo, and the French cuisine scene is expanding fast.
There are, however, many reasons for the increase in its popularity, starting with its attention to detail. French cuisine is all about picking quality ingredients; the fresher they are, the better the dish will taste. It is also all about minimising waste. So whatever scraps and morsels are in your fridge, combine them together, and that’s what you’re having for lunch.
The cuisine is also known for the many ways you can prepare a dish like braising, sauteing, flambéing, and poaching. They also have signature sauces that you’ve probably heard of and enjoyed before, such as hollandaise, bechamel, and velouté. French cuisine is also known for its use of light, aromatic herbs, the most famous of which is Herbes de Provence, which mainly includes thyme, basil, rosemary and marjoram.
Now that we’ve got the basics covered, let’s walk you through the French restaurants worth visiting here in Cairo.
