Cairo 360

Cairo’s vibrant social scene never runs out of exciting hangout spots, especially in 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed. However, we decided to revisit a timeless favourite—Mall of Arabia. As one of Cairo’s oldest malls, it has impressively maintained its relevance and modern appeal over the years. On our latest visit, we explored Blaze Café and Restaurant at the 6th of October branch. Here’s our take on the experience.
Ambience & Setting: A Cosy and Lively Atmosphere for Every Occasion
Blaze Mall of Arabia offers indoor and outdoor seating, catering to all weather conditions. However, it’s important to note that the indoor section is strictly non-smoking. In contrast, the outdoor area permits smoking and also serves shisha, which might be something to keep in mind for families with children.
The indoor area is also equipped with large TV screens displaying football matches and movies, which makes it an excellent spot for sports enthusiasts. The staff were exceptionally friendly and cooperative, providing quick and efficient service that enhanced our overall experience.
Food & Beverage Review: A Mixed Experience of Flavourful Highlights and Missed Opportunities
Star Dish: Taco Salad
Our top recommendation from Blaze is undoubtedly the Taco Salad for EGP 225. This dish stood out as the highlight of our culinary experience, offering fresh ingredients and a well-balanced flavour profile.
Trio Dynamite & Fried Chicken Rice
Trio Dynamite for EGP 195 combines shrimp, chicken, and potatoes; this dish has ups and downs. While the potatoes were the most enjoyable element, the overall dish could have been more flavourful. On the other hand, the Fried Chicken Rice at EGP 290 had great texture and presentation but lacked the spicy kick we had specifically requested. A stronger flavour profile would have elevated the dish significantly.
Beef Pasta & Chicken Fajita
The beef pasta was decent but not particularly memorable. Priced at EGP 270, it was satisfactory but didn’t leave a lasting impression. However, The Chicken Fajita for EGP 295 was cooked to perfection. The dish was well-executed but could have benefited from a bolder, more intense flavour like some other dishes. The accompanying rice was delicious, although the portion size was slightly smaller than expected.
Drinks Selection: Simple Yet Satisfying Options for a Refreshing Break
We sampled a cappuccino for EGP 82 and a small water bottle costing EGP 32. While the coffee was rich and well-prepared, the water pricing felt slightly steep compared to other venues.
Final Verdict: A Worthwhile Spot for Casual Dining with Room for Improvement
Blaze at Mall of Arabia offers a pleasant dining experience with a well-rounded menu and excellent service. While some dishes could benefit from more seasoning, the quality of ingredients and overall atmosphere make it a solid choice for a casual outing. Whether you’re catching a football game, enjoying a meal with friends, or looking for a relaxed shisha spot, Blaze is worth visiting.
