If there’s one thing Egyptians know to do perfectly, it’s dancing the whole night away. With our natural rhythm and our love for body-swaying beats, it’s no wonder that we can spot a great DJ a mile away—a skill that helps quite a lot when the weekend is right around the corner and we’re scouring the internet to pinpoint the venues in which they’ll be performing.

That said, we thought it was about time we gave 12 DJs (and DJ groups in particular) their due as we legitimately consider them pillars of Cairene nightlife. Read on to find out about the people who have kept Cairo dancing all night long. 

Ashmawy

A fixture of Cairene clubs, Ashmawy is a DJ whose presence simply cannot be ignored. You’ll know it when he’s in the building because you’ll be dancing from the second he starts his set to the second he packs it up! 

Mohasseb

After 10 years of witnessing the greatness that this DJ constantly brings, it’s safe to say that Mohasseb has never failed to make us dance. With gigs and concerts all over Cairo (as well as Ibiza and Dubai), party people from all walks of life know that an event in which Mohasseb spins is an event not to miss.  

Ahmed Moenes 

As a med student and one of Cairo’s finest DJs, Ahmed Moenes and his sets are just what the doctor ordered! This DJ’s eclectic beats and fun persona turn every gathering into a full-fledged fiesta. So keep an eye out for his gigs and, trust us, you’ll thank us later.

Disco Misr

Our favourite DJ group of all time obviously has its place on our list! Disco Misr has been regaling crowds with funky fusions of old Egyptian classics for a while now, and will not stop any time soon if we can help it.

Misty 

Taking the party world by storm, Misty is the kind of DJ who turns every performance into an art! With mixes that get everybody moving and dancing, you’ll need to witness a Misty set for yourself to truly understand the experience we’re talking about. 

DJunkie

Manning the turntables since 1997, DJunkie is a staple of Cairene nightlife, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! With his funky aesthetics and eccentrically fun mixes, a party simply doesn’t begin until this DJ walks in. 

BubbleGum Kollectiv

A CJC and CJC 610 fixture that specialises in making our fun nights all the merrier, BubbleGum Kollectiv is known as a group that will get the party rolling in a few seconds. With the group’s eclectic ’90s and ‘house classics’ mixes, it’s easy to see why the dancefloor comes to life in its presence. 

Hatem Zahran 

As far as talented DJs go, Hatem Zahran is one of the best, and his mixes easily cement his reputation. Capable of kicking off parties in an instant, this DJ will show you another meaning of ‘dancing until you drop’! 

DJ Nada 

As the Queen of Deep House Music, DJ Nada has given us all we could ever want out of a DJ: Fun vibes, great tunes, and moods that transport us into otherworldly realms. And we’re not even exaggerating! Once you find a party where she’s spinning, be sure to be among the first to arrive. 

Omar Ezzo 

Ever wondered what it’d be like to be at a party that never ends? If so, then all you have to do to figure out what that’s like is check any place where Omar Ezzo is spinning. With his vibrant, fiery sets, this DJ is guaranteed to give you a night you’ll never forget! 

Aly and Fila

When it comes to highlighting Egyptian DJs and DJ groups, including Aly and Fila on our list is simply a no-brainer. The Kings of Egyptian Trance have entranced (get it?) partying crowds all over the world with their hypnotising music, and we want nothing more than to hear more of their tunes! 

Fresh Cakes

Mixing oldies, Nu Disco, tech-house, and more genres, Fresh Cakes is all that her name implies: Fresh and here to impress you with all that is new and expectation-defying. This DJ made our days and nights more vibrant with her mixes, so we highly recommend you check her out.
