You know the feeling of wanting to save the planet but not knowing where or how to start? Well, you can begin this Friday by adding your voice to the people calling for change and a better future for the planet. All you need to do is put your running shoes on and head to Zed Park.
The British Council, in collaboration with Cairo Runners, is bringing you The Climate Connection Run. This event is dedicated to The Global Youth Letter, which will directly address all the leaders attending #COP26. It will deliver all the recommendations that the youth has concerning climate change so that their voice can be heard. In addition, all runners participating will get a chance to share how they would tackle such a serious problem.
In case you are not aware of the risks that Egypt may be facing, here’s a brief explanation. The large population of Egypt puts it on the list of countries that are extremely vulnerable to climate change. Any decrease in the total supply of water, coupled with the expected increase in consumption due to the high population growth rates, will have drastic impacts.
Each step you take counts! Runners are asked to meet up at 7:30 AM, with the warm-up starting at 7:45. Bring your friends and come and do the right things; just make sure you register beforehand. It’s free to run, but registration is a must. Elizabeth White, the director of British Council Egypt, will also be running for the cause.
