Two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and American Olympic gold medalist, Julie Foudy, once said, “Sports build good habits, confidence, and discipline. They make players into community leaders and teach them how to strive for a goal, handle mistakes, and cherish growth opportunities.” In addition to the mentioned general perks of sports, team sports, in particular, also teach us how to communicate and respect your teammates. Based on this fact, we highly advise and encourage you to join this year’s team competition, the Jungle Games 2019, on the 28th and 29th of June.
Before we talk about the regulations and costs, let’s shed some light on the contest. According to Cairo Gyms, Jungle Games is the first fitness competition in Egypt that is dedicated solely to all fitness enthusiasts, including runners, cyclists, and rowers, to compete in the Jungle Games. The competition’s official Facebook page adds that they are also targeting athletes who are new to CrossFit or who want to test their level of fitness. Therefore, the extensive list of workouts will include mostly bodyweight exercises to test your fitness, such as sprints, squats, pushups, box jumps, etc. As for the equipment that will be used, no barbells or gymnastics will be included, but you can find kettlebells, medicine balls, and other types of gear.
The event was created in 2016 to celebrate the first anniversary of MonkeyBars, an all-in-one fitness facility that offers a variety of fitness programmes for everyone. After the enormous success of the initial Jungle Games, it has been going on ever since! MonkeyBars states on their Facebook page that their “Monkey Philosophy” is to help you develop, grow, and improve physically and mentally through high-quality fitness instruction in a fun, clean, safe, and positive community. Through our innovative personalised programs and competitive programs, our friendly professional coaches will inspire you and assist you.” They conclude with a powerful statement, “Our community is what differentiates us.”
As previously mentioned, the games will take place on the 28th & 29th of this month and the two days will last from 3 pm to 9 pm. Each team consists of two males and one female, and registration fees are 1950 EGP per team. Sadly, the deadline for registration was the 31st of May, but you can sign up anyway via this link, and ask the organisers if they could make an exception, because it’s truly an amazing opportunity, and life is too short to wait until next year. After all, the first placed team will go home with 3500 EGP cash and 3000 EGP worth of FitFreak vouchers, with other prizes in store for the second and third place winners.
So start calling your friends or family members and sign up now!
