So say goodbye to living off a diet of french fries and get ready for a delicious (and totally vegan) meal. Here are some of the best vegan brands available in Egypt.  

NOT Foods

One of the latest brands to hit the clean eating scene is NOT, a pioneer of plant-based and vegan food in Egypt. Its expansive menu includes alternatives for almost any food you can think of, whether it’s juicy, meat-free burgers or everyone’s go-to easy dinner, chicken nuggets. The Meatless Farm Co

This UK brand is sold in Gourmet supermarkets throughout Egypt and carries products that look, feel, and taste like beef or chicken. For some finger-licking goodness, give their meatless chicken nuggets a shot. 

Plantful 

Handcrafted by Gourmet, Plantful is a line of plant-based meats made with hearty and nutritious ingredients like peas and rice for a healthy serving of protein. So far, the line only includes a few meals that you can substitute regular beef with, including meatballs, burger patties, minced meat, and vegan fried chicken. You can find them in Gourmet markets around Cairo. 

Violife 

Praised for their award-winning taste and resemblance to the real thing are Violife’s vegan cheese products. They’re creamy, cheesy, and melty, which make them perfect for cooking or slicing onto your sandwiches. You can even eat it straight out of the package. Violife is usually available in supermarkets like Gourmet. 

Good Earth 

Started by two brothers in 2007, this Cairo-based brand was created with something better in mind. Better health, better food, better fitness, and better choices for the environment have inspired Good earth to create meatless and dairy-free alternatives to your favourite foods. There are vegan versions of cheese, ice cream, burgers, meatballs, minced meat and more. You can order Good Earth’s products online from Quanta, a supplier of professional beverages and plant-based foods in Egypt. 

Alpro, Juhayna and Lamar Milk

Milk is one of the easiest products to swap out, especially if you’re lactose intolerant. Nobody is going to miss the immediate stomach rumbling after a sip of milk. Thankfully, a few different brands make all kinds of vegan milk in Egypt. From almond and oat to coconut and soy, you can enjoy your preferred milk alternative thanks to brands like Alpro.
