As a consistent participant in the Summer Olympic Games, Egypt has been making us all proud with its achievements throughout the years, showcasing our forte in diverse sports—from weightlifting and boxing to artistic swimming and cycling. With the 2024 Summer Olympics knocking on our doors—set to take place in Paris from July 26th to August 11th—here are some of the Egyptian names competing in this year’s Olympics.
1- Egypt National Under-23 Football Team-Football

There’s no question about it: football is a beloved sport around the country and is certainly one of our fortes. With this in mind, it is no surprise that Egypt’s National Under-23 Football Team qualified for the Olympics this year.
2- Marwan El Kamash – Swimming

The 2024 African Athlete of the Year, Marwan El Kamash, has represented Egypt in various championships and Olympic Games—bringing home several medals and now chasing his “3rd Olympic dream.”
3- Hanna Heikal – Artistic Swimming

Having competed in four World Championships, Hana Heikal has demonstrated her dedication and hard work on various occasions. She’s set to compete in the Olympics in an Artistic Swimming duet, representing our beloved country.
4- Aly Badawy – Sailing

Among the 330 sailors partaking in the 2024 Olympics, the Egyptian Aly Badawy will partake in the Men’s Laser event, proving his years of relentless commitment and training.
5- Neama Said – Weightlifting

Historically speaking, weightlifting is our strong suit at the Olympics. This year, two Egyptian males and three Egyptian females, including the champion Neama Said, have qualified for the Olympics. Said has participated in the World Championships, African Games, and Mediterranean Games, securing the gold medal in the 2021 World Championships and the silver medal in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.
6- Dr. Nada Hafez – Fencing

A clinical pathologist AND fencer, Dr. Nada Hafez is the definition of a Renaissance gal. This year, she is the only Egyptian fencer in the Olympics!
7- Nayel Nassar – Equestrianism

Nayel Nassar is an Egyptian American professional equestrian who began riding at age five and has dedicated his life to equestrianism. It’s only natural that he’d qualify for the Olympics, right?
8- Mayar Sherif – Tennis

The sole Egyptian tennis player in the 2024 Olympics, Mayar Sherif is the highest-ranked Egyptian tennis player in the Open Era of tennis.
