We are the champions! The Egyptian National Handball Team has won the Handball African Cup of Nations after beating Tunisia 27-23. Not only is the team celebrating the big win, but they also get to come home triumphant as they now qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, this summer, along with Tunisia and Algeria.
The championship took place in Tunisia, where the Egyptian team faced off against Algeria, Guinea, Kenya, and DR Congo, according to Egyptian Streets. The latest victory against the 10-time winners adds up to a total of seven titles for the Egyptian team. According to Ahram, it was thanks to winger Mohamed Sanad, who scored seven goals during the first half.
Next year’s World Championship, taking place in Egypt, will also feature Tunisia and Algeria, who came in second and third place respectively, with the latter beating Angola after a gruelling match that ended with a score of 32-27.
