The 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) includes 12 international movies that will be screened throughout the festival. Since CIFF has already started, here’s a glimpse into some of these international cinematic masterpieces that you can still watch!

 

In Camera (UK)

Our most awaited watch is a 90-minute British drama showing the reality of modern existence within the themes of self-perception, self-image, imposed roles, and the ever-changing nature of life. Directed and written by Naqqash Khalid, starring Nabhan Rizwan, Rory Fleck Byrne, and Amir El-Masry, who’s known for constantly representing his outstanding talent in international films.

 

My Late Summer (Croatia)

It is a 100-minute comedy-drama that follows the character of Maja. After returning to her hometown to get her inheritance and leave the island, she unexpectedly stays longer than planned. The film is co-written by Nikola Kuprešanin, Anja Matković, and Danis Tanović. Directed by Danis Tanović, who is also the president of the International Competition Jury at the 45th edition of CIFF, and one of this year’s three tributes.

 

A Sudden Glimpse to Deeper Things (UK)

The film is directed by Mark Cousins and stars Tilda Swinton. A 90-minute documentary that follows the inspiring life of the leading 20th-century British artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, specifically after her Switzerland glacier incident in 1949, which reshaped her entire perspective and artistic essence for the following decades.

 

Adjunct (USA)

Adjunct is an 80-minute drama that tells the story of an Iraqi-American writer who works as an adjunct professor at a local college. He soon discovers how dispensable he is to the system and has to figure out his next move. It is directed and written by Ron Najor.

 

Nocturnes (India)

Nocturnes is an 80-minute documentary about two observers who come across an eye-catching habitat of moths in the Eastern Himalayan Forest. Stunned by their beauty and harmony, the two observers decide to explore and unravel the secret whispers of moths. It is directed and written by Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan.

 

Ana Machi Ana (Morocco) 

This one is a 2-hour comedy about Farid, who’s enjoying his honeymoon in a luxurious hotel in Marrakesh and is caught off-guard by the arrival of his ex-wives. It is written and directed by Hicham El Jebbari.

 

The Contract (Italy)

Internationally premiering for the first time in the 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, The Contract is a thriller film directed by the one and only Massimo Paolucci. Written by Eva Henger and Massimiliano Caroletti, the movie stars Kevin Spacey, Eric Roberts, and Vincent Spano. To take the thrill and suspense to a whole new level, no trailers or descriptions were officially published until now.

Other awaited film screenings by this program include By The Time It Gets Dark, a narrated drama from Thailand, And Their Children After Them, a coming-of-age film from France, They Will Be Dust from Spain, a musical tragicomedy, The Glory of Life, a romantic drama from Germany, and Reas, a documentary from several countries.
