La Casa de Papel has ended and left us all craving a taste for turbulent Spanish dramas with their whirlwind romances and wildfire actions. But with no promise for more seasons, at least until the 2023 release of the spin-off, Berlin, we have to satisfy our newly-found taste. This is why we have more Spanish shows for you to enjoy.

El Marginal

This Argentine hit has it all; gritty, dark themes, cops in disguise, prison and dangerous inmates, intense storylines, and humour. Falling into the category of prison shows, the premise of this critically acclaimed series is an ex-cop, Miguel Palacios, who infiltrates a prison while investigating the kidnapping of a daughter of a judge and finds himself surrounded by dangerous felons who must not know his true identity. Like La Casa de Papel, this Argentine hit will have you sympathising with morally grey characters with harsh dialects.

La Verdad

If you miss the mind games of El Professor and the series of plot twists, then this show is what you’re looking for. The Spanish series revolves around Paula Gracia, who shows up eight years after her mysterious disappearance as a child, and the people around her who are split into believers of who she claims to be and those who don’t. The series twists and turns until even the viewer doesn’t know the truth anymore.

Los Enviados

Starring La Casa de Papel’s Miguel Ángel Silvestre, the Spanish show revolves around two priests looking for an alleged healer who’s mysteriously disappeared. They soon discover a psychiatric community on the outskirts of town that is hiding secrets behind the missing healer. The show walks the thin line between realism and mysticism, investigations and intuitions, secrets and truths. It’s guaranteed to keep you on your toes.

Niños Robados

Based on historical facts, this Spanish mini-series is about the babies stolen from their mothers during the Francoist period of 1970s Spain and their struggles during the following decades. Full of political and economic turmoil, with heart-wrenching stories, this show will keep your eyes unblinking on the screen.

Maradona: Blessed Dream

The list wouldn’t be complete without this Argentine documentary series about one of the most legendary Argentinean and international footballers. The series follows young Maradona in his early life and career, a life that is as entertaining as any fascinating fictional series since Maradona led an eventual life on and off the field.
