This article goes out for all the unfortunates who’re weeping on their desks from the agony of having to drag themselves out of bed while everyone is still enjoying their Eid vacation somewhere by the sea. We feel you, we salute you, and we’re giving you a brief of what’s going on in the city during the weekend.
Sing your heart out this Thursday either at ROOM Art Space New Cairo’s, where a karaoke night takes place, or at AfriCairo, which hosts its weekly open-jam night. Meanwhile it’s all about pop music at The Tap Maadi, courtesy of DJ Kashouty, and at The Tap East as well, but with DJ Lyon Avakian taking to the decks.
Cairo Jazz Club’s Thursday Night Live sees two local bands taking to the stage; Bahiyya, who take to the stage for a round of Egyptian classics, and Massar Egbari, who serve various Arabic rock numbers. Cairo Jazz Club 610’s electronic night sees DJs Basel Aly, and Omar Tarek taking to the decks.
When Friday comes, Arab Idol ‘s star Mervat Wagdy takes to El Sawy Culturewheel’s stage for a host of Arabic pop tunes, Estabena sing various Mediterranean folk tunes at ROOM Art Space Garden City, while drummer Mostafa Bakkar leads the drum circle at AfriCairo.
Enjoy a steak over a spectrum of jazz tunes at ROOM Art Space New Cairo, which hosts a night called Jazz & Dine, or watch Old Tales Record; a play by Abqarino that is set to take place at Gusour Cultural Center. DJ Feedo spins a host of R&B tunes at Cairo Jazz Club 610, DJ Kix takes to decks at Cairo Jazz Club, While FrogMoose is on the menu at The Tap Maadi, where a house music night takes place.
As for Saturday, Egyptian poet Amr Hassan celebrates his birthday at El Sawy Culturewheel, where he’s reciting some of his works on the stage, Mario Saeid & His Friends plays various Oriental tunes at ROOM Art Space Garden City, while Asyad El Zar takes to the stage at El Dammah Theater for a folk music night.
Boy Wonder seals the night at The Tap Maadi with a host of pop tunes, The Disc Jockeys spin some groovy beats at The Tap West, while Shady Ahmed plays a round of acoustic tunes on The Tap East’s stage, before Hang The DJ spin some acoustic pop hits on the decks.
