Ramadan is a month when we care for one another and do our best to spend quality time with our loved ones from family or friends. That’s why it’s always a good idea to care for your wider community and ensure this love and care extends to all.

Volunteering during Ramadan is a chance to serve a greater good and strengthen your community during the holy month, so here we’ve combined several charity foundations and associations to volunteer where you can serve your time and effort to improve someone else’s life.

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports has a significant role in helping society during Ramadan, from packing and distributing Ramadan boxes to organising iftar and suhoor. This year, they’re cooperating with the Misr ElKheir Foundation in the Iftar Saeem initiative. They’ve also opened applications for volunteering to organise the iftar of Matrya, which is annually held on the 15th of Ramadan. Egyptian Red Crescent

In the Egyptian Red Crescent, the volunteering activities are split into three categories: helping with the packing and distribution of Ramadan boxes, helping with the iftar, and helping with suhoor. You can join any of these activities by visiting the nearest Red Crescent branch in your city and filling out the application form, but make sure to bring your national ID and pay the required annual fees for joining. The fees vary from one branch to another.

Egyptian Food Bank

The Egyptian Food Bank has three Ramadan-related volunteering activities: Hanftar Bel Mahta handles the distribution of iftar meals in metro stations, Farhet Ramadan handles welcoming people and the organisation of iftar in Ramadan tents, and lastly, Bus El-Ozouma handles the distribution of Ramadan boxes in needier areas. The Egyptian Food Bank accepts all volunteers through their volunteer form or the branch in New Cairo. 

Misr El-Kheir

Misr El-Kheir continues the Iftar Saeem initiative this year. You can join their multiple volunteering activities, from helping with Ramadan boxes to assisting with iftar tents held across Egypt. Registration for volunteering in Ramadan is done by calling their hotline at 16140 or visiting one of their numerous offices in Egypt.
