With the 5th of December fast approaching, we are all reminded of our social responsibility. For the International Day of Volunteering, we have brought you five places where you can volunteer, reestablish your sense of purpose, and have fun.
Ersem Basma

Ersem Basma started as a small gathering of friends and neighbours at a school in New Cairo to pack meals every Ramadan. Every day, an increasing number of people asked how they could join and help. From there, Ersem Basma became a small organisation run by a group of mothers and their teenage sons and daughters, creating change and helping those in need.

African Hope Learning Center

In the heart of Maadi, you can find AHLC. Acting as a social community offering education and two hot meals a day, AHLC is a second home to African refugee children in Egypt. The learning centre welcomes talented volunteers in various fields every Thursday morning to help the children learn new skills and enjoy a good time. With whatever skill or hobby you have, AHLC gives you a chance to not only become a volunteer but also to pass on your hobby and have a fun time.

Mahrou’ ElSaada

With a focus on urban design and development, Mahrou’ ElSaada has made it their mission to decorate the streets of Egypt and make them more aesthetically pleasing, as well as help with the reconstruction of houses. Now, Mashrou’ ElSaada has become a massive project, changing lives in Lebanon and all over Africa.

Good Deeds 56

Commemorating their friend Alaa Essam, a group of friends started the Good Deeds project. With a focus on small villages, the superheroes behind Good Deeds work on the reconstruction of homes, bring warmth to villages through blankets, clothes, food, and roof reconstructions, and help orphan brides and grooms establish their homes. Taking part in Good Deeds projects will help you meet and interact with a warm community and spread kindness everywhere you go.
