An estimated 87,000 people from 30 countries around the globe have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak, according to The Guardian. The disease had allegedly spiralled out of control in China after being transmitted from bats, reports CNN. While the negative reactions have alienated Chinese tourists in Egypt, the country stood in solidarity with China by lighting up several of its monuments, including Cairo’s Saladin Citadel, Luxor’s Karnak Temple, and Aswan’s Philae Temple, with the Chinese flag.

The gesture, which took place on Sunday, coincides with the departure of Egyptian Minister of Health, Hala Zayed to China in a bid to help out the Chinese with their struggles to fight the public health emergency, according to Egypt Today.

“The situation in Egypt is very comforting, and there have been 1443 tests conducted with suspicious cases until today. Only one has tested positive that has been dealt with, but the case showed no symptoms,” said Zayed to Arabic RT.
