Leveraging his extensive industry experience in supporting Egyptian brands to reach the global markets, The Export Council for Medical Industries has appointed Dr. Mohamed Salah, CEO of ECC Cosmetics, as Undersecretary of the Council Cosmetics Division in a new chapter for the Egyptian Cosmetic scene, and a new stepping stone for local brands to become regional leaders!

Elevating the Egyptian Cosmetic Scene

Looking to elevate Egypt’s position as a regional leader in the cosmetics industry, in his new role as Undersecretary of the Cosmetics Division, Dr. Salah aims to help Egyptian brands overcome export challenges and broaden their global presence while adhering to high standards of quality and innovation, in advances that will reassess the Egyptian cosmetic market and its standards.

Dr. Salah expressed his enthusiasm for his appointment, stating, “This role is a crucial opportunity to enhance Egyptian products’ global standing and help local brands address export challenges. It also aims to strengthen cooperation between local and international companies.” He added, “We are continuously innovating because we believe that innovation is key to global success. Furthermore, we are committed to empowering the new generation of creators in the cosmetics industry. I will work to provide them with the opportunities they need to realise their dreams and expand their horizons in this field.”

Reshaping Cosmetic Local Brands Narratives at ECC

In the vibrant world of cosmetics and nutritional supplements, Dr. Salah stands out as a beacon of innovation and leadership. He heads ECC, a dynamic group that has carved its name into the annals of the industry. The story of ECC is one of ambition and legacy, beginning in 1981 when Dr. Salah’s father opened a modest laboratory that would become the bedrock of a remarkable journey.

Inspired by his father’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Dr. Salah joined forces with his longtime friend, Dr. Ahmed Aboul Hamayel. With a wealth of experience in cosmetics sales and marketing since 2002 and as the CEO of Infinity Clinic Pharma and Vision Cosmetics, Dr. Ahmed has been a pivotal player in ECC’s transformation. Together, they nurtured ECC into a multifaceted powerhouse, expanding its reach to six state-of-the-art factories, including three focused on cosmetics.

The SmartPack plastic factory, the ECC Nutrition Hub for nutritional supplements, and a newly acquired aerosol factory now hum with the energy of over 120 million products produced annually, fulfilling clients’ needs in more than 30 countries. This remarkable growth has secured ECC a staggering market share of over 70% in the local cosmetics arena.

However, ECC is not just a manufacturer; it is a trusted partner for over 800 brands, both local and international, and is known for delivering world-class production services. The company’s reputation is built on reliability and excellence, making it a cornerstone of the beauty industry.

Dr. Salah believes that true success goes beyond profit. Last month, he spearheaded an initiative to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt’s beauty sector, aiming to uplift 14 promising brands on their journey to local market success. This initiative, a continuation of ECC’s commitment to fostering growth, offers a comprehensive suite of services.

From advanced product formulation to innovative packaging solutions, professional-scale manufacturing, legal facilitation, and even product registration with the Ministry of Health, ECC is dedicated to nurturing the next wave of beauty entrepreneurs. Additionally, the initiative opens doors to sales opportunities through the Source Beauty digital platform, creating pathways for emerging brands to thrive. Symbolising a strategic vision for elevating Egypt’s presence in the global cosmetics arena, Dr. Salah looks ahead to the sector’s future shining brightly, promising a landscape rich with innovation and opportunity for generations to come.
