Hello, Cairo!

There's too much to get through as we count down the minutes to the weekend, so we're going to skip the small-talk, if that;s ok with you, and jump right in.

Thursday is chockablock full of music events, with one of the biggest coming at Fairmont Nile City’s TwøFøld, where German label, Diynamic Music, touchdown for a special showcase that will see some of their finest talent in the form of Dutchman, Karmon, Italian duo, Undercatt, and Stuttgart native, Johannes Brecht, perform.

Electronic music fans can also get their fix at the Garden – Nile Front, where local DJs, Misty and Hady Tarek, take to the stage, while Amr Hosny does likewise at Maadi bar, Cheers, for Bar Sessions, and DJ AK takes to the decks at the Temple for a night of hip-hop and r&b.

Elsewhere, the French Institute hosts a special edition of its Soiree parties, this time marking International Women’s Day with the help of German DJ, Gloria Fock, and Cairo’s own Akladios, while live music comes tonight comes in the form of Alexandria natives Massar Egabri’s return to Cairo Jazz Club and Salalem’s return to Downtown’s After Eight, while Hisham Blues kicks off the weekend at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge.

One of the highlight events of the weekend in the realm of art, meanwhile, takes place on Friday, as Arts-Mart launches this year’s edition of annual exhibition, The Artists of Tomorrow, with some of Egypt’s best young artists set to showcase their work.

Friday also throws up a pretty eclectic line-up of music events, with Legendary French pianist, Richard Clayderman, set to perform at the Marquee in New Cairo, Rami Attallah and Shokran Jazzilan taking to the stage at Garden City’s ROOM Art Space and Bluezophrenia returning to Maadi bar, the Tap. Klady and Aly Goede kicks things off at Cairo Jazz Club, meanwhile, with a back-to-back set, before Pacha Sharm resident, Ouzo, Closes the night.

At Cairo Opera House, Basata Band perform, while Ballet Flamenco De Madrid’s performance of Carmina Burana moves into its last day.

Things slow down on Saturday, though Cairo Jazz Club is set to end the weekend with local band, Bahiyya, paying tribute to the late, great Sayed Darwish and Shady Ahmed returns to the Tap, while Bluezophrenia’s second gig this weekend sees the band perform at ROOM Art Space.

Elsewhere, Sahara front-man, Ezz El Ostool, flies solo at Downtown Cairo's After Eight, another Saturday Karaoke Night beckons at Cheers and perennial open-mic night, Mashrou3 Al Mareekh returns to Darb 1718.

There’s plenty of art to take in, too, with some of the highlight exhibitions in the capital coming in the form of Mohamed El Ganoby’s Density of Black at Artellewa, Randa Shaath’s INDELIBLE at Gypsum Gallery and Mohamed Dmarawey's latest solo exhibition at Al Kahila Art Gallery.
