Cairo Weekend Guide: Shereen Abdo, Glass Onion, Rami Attallah Trio and a Whole Lot More

Hello people of Cairo, it’s another weekend ahead of…no, wait! It’s not just another weekend; it’s going to be a long weekend, which triples the fun. Many of you will be heading to the beach, but for those who will be spending the next three days in town; perk up, because Cairo knows how to keep you busy.
Here’s what you can do, while others are slouching on the beach:
Thursday buzzes with music, with Egyptian diva, Shereen Abdo, taking to the stage of Garden City’s ROOM Art Space for a number of Arabic songs that melds rock, blues and funk and Mariz Momtaz, Fairouz and Nouran Aboutaleb, along with many other musicians, take to stage at Heliopolis’ Bab 18 for In-Fusion Night, while Egyptian Project take takes over El Genaina Theatre’s stage, right after the students of Al Darb Al Ahmar Arts School flaunt their musical, acrobatic and acting talents.

As the night grows older, Beatles cover band, Glass Onion, brings back 60’s Beatlemania at Cairo Jazz Club, while Islam Chipsy is at Underground’s El Mahragan and DJ Peto takes to the decks of Heliopolis’ LIV Lounge in LIV IT UP.
Meanwhile, at The Tap Maadi, DJ Aly Goede takes to the decks for a night of deep and tech-house and DJ A.K is in charge at The Tap East for a night of hip-hop and R&B in Back to the Future.
Staying in Cairo on a Friday shouldn’t stop you from brunching like royalty at Kempinski Nile Hotel’s Friday Brunch, or like cool-cats at The Tap East’s Let’s Do Brunch, where music will be provided by Raw Acoustic.
Later in the evening, ROOM Art Space welcomes one of the best bands on the underground scene, Do’souka, before while DJs, Aguizi & Fahim and Ouzo, head to Cairo Jazz Club for a tech-house and indie night and DJ Teddy Adel takes to the decks of The Tap East for a hip hop and R&B night.

Elsewhere, cover band, Amro & The Big Bang Boogie, take to the stage of The Tap Maadi, while Basheer carries the audience to the mystical lands Nubia at at Underground.
Saturday is be a good opportunity to sit back and relax, but there’s plenty for those who want to milk the long weekend till the very last drop; American drama, Certain Women, will be screened at Downtown’s Cimatheque, a jazz awaits at ROOM Art Space,with the Rami Attalah Jazz Trio and Andromida take to the stage at The Tap Maadi for a Pink Floyd tribute, while Cairo Jazz Club ends its weekend with the songs of El Sheikh Imam and Sayed Darwish, courtesy of the unique Bahiyya.
