The week is finally coming to an end; delve into what the city is offering its dwellers. As always, Cairo is brimming with events that will keep you entertained, whatever your interest may be. Here’s the deal:
Thursday begins with two folk music nights; one at El Dammah Theater, where El Rango take to the stage for a round of Sudanese and Nubian tunes, and another at ROOM Art Space Garden City, courtesy of Orien-Trio, who play a variety of folk tunes from the Asia and Africa.
Not falling far from the folk genre, local band Wah Ya Boy take to the stage at El SawyCulturewheel for a round of contemporary Arabic numbers that are infused with sounds from Upper Egypt. But if you happen to be in Alexandria, MassarEgbari takes to the stage at the Roman Amphitheatre for an Arabic Rock night as part of Cairo Opera House’s summer music festival.

Back to Cairo, where Cairo Jazz 610’s massive night sees Tourkey and MSelim taking to the decks, followed by Omar Tarek and Bassel Aly playing back-to-back, while Cairo Jazz Club welcomes Gravity to the stage for a round of pop, funk, and blues covers, before Strawberry Swing take over for some Coldplaynumbers. DJ Mobbzis at The Tap Maadi, taking to the decks for a round of R&B and hip-hop.
When Friday comes, The Bends take to the stage at ROOM Art Space New Cairo to cover classics by Radiohead, Andromida cover a round of Pink Floyd all-time favourites at El SawyCulturewheel, while Mood of Oud play some Oriental tunes at Gusour Cultural Centre.
Elsewhere, Mahmoud El Tohami chants some religious songs at El SawyCulturewheel, Gawy serve contemporary Arabic tunes at Darb 1718, while it’s a stand-up comedy night at AfriCairo, where a host of local comedians take to the stage.
You can also head to Cairo Jazz 610’s Block Party, courtesy of DJ Feedo, who takes to decks to spin a round of R&B and hip-hop tunes, While DJs Hady Tarek, Arrab, and Hassan El Far are taking to decks for another massive party, but at Cairo Jazz Club in Agouza.

Out of Cairo there’s a massive gig by composer and pianist Yanni, who takes to the stage at North Coast’s Mountain View on a night called Yanni by the Sea. Alexandria’s Roman Amphitheatre plays host to another huge night, where Cairo Opera House’s summer music festival sees local band Wust El Balad playing various world music tunes.
As Saturday, Asyad El Zar take to the stage for a round of tunes, Elvis pay homage to The King himself at ROOM Art Space New Cairo, while El EkhwaAbouSha’rchants some religious numbers at El SawyCulturewheel.
Also at El SawyCulturewheel, AdhamSeliman sings various tunes on stage, while ROOM Art Space Garden City hosts an open-mic night, where you can be the star. Elsewhere, Gummy Bears are rocking the stage at The Tap Maadi, while Bahiyya seals the night at Cairo Jazz Club with a round of covers by El Sheikh Emam, Sayed Darwish, and the likes.
