Hey there Cairo, get ready for an eclectic, eventful and varied
weekend this week!

If you like shiny, sleek cars, head to the Cairo International Convention Centre
for the 18th international motor show this Thursday, where car enthusiasts and fanatics
will be delighted with the models and parts on display there.

If you’re more into sailing than driving,
then head to 5th international boat show instead, where there’ll be a
unique collection of all things to do with the ocean from yachts and boats to
skiing and surfing!

When Thursday night rolls around head to the Amir
Taz palace for a beautiful violin concerto brought to you by local
musician Abdou Dagher. The concert begins at 8PM and is free of charge. For live contemporary Arab music, head to
After Eight where local band Sahara will perform.

Thursday is also a good day for contemporary dance fans: the Hungarian dance troupe Szeged Contemporary Dance Company will perform at the Cairo Opera House at 8PM, while local contemporary dancer Shaymaa Shokry will perform ‘Exit Does Not Exit,’ a multimedia dance performance at AUC’s Falaki Main Stage Theatre at the Downtown campus.

Enjoy a lazy Friday afternoon at Smart Village with The White Festival. The festival promises to be a family-friendly and fun day, featuring a
shopping bazaar, a super slide for kids and much more. There will also be a
coffee and food buffet on site, yum!

Later in the evening, be sure to catch the first anniversary of Project Yourself at Darb 17 18. This open-mic initiative
has gathered a huge following in the past year, and they plan on showcasing everyone’s favourite acts at this celebration.

For a night of inspiring Egyptian folk music, head to the Tanboura Hall for the Tanboura band, known for their
catch Simsimeya and Damma music from the Portsaid and Suez
Canal area.

On Saturday head to Townhouse Gallery for the Cairo Photo Marathon, the first of its kind in Egypt. Inspired by the Danish photo marathon, this event will take place in
two phases of 6 and 12 hours, and is open to professional and amateur photographers. The task is to interpret a number of themes assigned by the organisers within a specific time frame. Townhouse Gallery will be the anchor spot.

Tired out by all the photography? Enjoy a magical night of Tannoura dancing at Wikalet El Ghouri, where the Tanoura Dance Troupe
will perform the Egyptian folk dance in true Sufi style.

For more modern music, head to After Eight on Saturday night, for the debut of Live Reggae Show, an up and coming band playing a fusion of reggae hits. Prefer classical music? The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will peform several piano and orchestral concertos including pieces by Beethoven at the Cairo Opera House’s Main Hall.

Alternatively you can head to the Cairo
Jazz Club for a night with their regulars, Salalem Band, who’ll play a
mix of Egyptian rock, funk and everything in between.

Have a great weekend Cairo!
