Cairo Weekend Guide: Live Music, Big Parties, New Exhibitions & More!
Cairo 360
Hello, Cairo!
With most of Egypt's party-pushers and nightlife nymphs chanelling much of their energies towards the North Coast, many have continued to bemoan the dip in events this summer across the capital. But what this weekend's gigs and parties lack in frequency are more than made up for in quality – a big weekend awaits!
Thursday sees Cairo Jazz Club kick off its weekend with live music coming courtesy of Shady Ahmed and the Cadillacs, while Maadi bar, the Tap, welcomes Hurghada’s DJ Teddy Adel, for the first time.
There’s plenty going on at Fairmont Nile City, too; soulful singer, Riham Mostafa, performs at Onyx Lounge and belly-dancer, Soraya, provides the entertainment at Bab El Nil, while Lana sets the scene for a laidback evening of music at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge. That’s not all, though; the Seafood Festival is back at Napa Grill, while the hotel’s nightlife haunt, O Bar, welcomes DJs Mash and IRMA, for Thursday Obsession.
At the other end of the musical spectrum, meanwhile, local band, Charisma, perform at El Sawy Culturewheel.
The Cadillacs perform their second gig in as many days on Friday, as the four-man rock band return to the Tap, while Riham Mostafa does likewise, but this time at Saigon, with Lana swapping venues for a performance at Onyx Lounge.
Two of the country’s top up-and-coming DJs, Man-O and Zalat, take over Cairo Jazz Club, while DJ IRMA is back in action at O Bar for Good Vibes alongside DJ T. Elsewhere, Soraya dances once more at Bab El Nil and after-hours club, Bamboo, welcomes resident DJs, 3abkarino, Kiko and Bob, for Secret Friday.
Things don’t slow down on Saturday, as Cairo Jazz Club welcomes local group, Basata Band, for the first time, while Brass Knuckles front-man, Tamer ‘The Guvna’ Emad, flies solo for a night of acoustic rock. Elsewhere, Bamboo goes Levant for Lebanese Love and it’s karaoke night at Zamalek’s Peking Lodge.
With Cairo galleries displaying their summer collections, there is no shortage of art in the capital, with some of this week’s new exhibitions including summer collections at Gallery Grant and Art Corner.
