Cairo is ready for the weekend with a long list of events that will put a smile on every face. It’s getting colder, though, so make sure you have you put on the warmest of jackets to enjoy this weekend’s dose of entertainment. Here’s a glimpse of what’s going on:
Thursday begins with a jam night at AfriCairo, an underground music night at ROOM ART Space Garden City, where Yousra El Hawary takes to the stage for a round of Arabic songs, while it’s all about Christmas at Cairo Opera House, where the Main Hall sees a Christmas Carols show.
El Sawy Culturewheel hosts a stand-up comedy show, courtesy of The Xes, as well as a performance by pianist and composer Hisham Kharma, who’ll play some originals pieces. There’s also a round of Christmas bazaars taking place around the city at various venues; at New Giza, Tivoli Dome Heliopolis, and New Cairo British International School
Elsewhere, DJ Feedo drops some R&B and hip-hop beats at The Tap Maadi, DJunkie takes to the decks at The Tap West, where he spins some funk and disco tunes, while The Riff Band is on the menu on a night called Cabaret Night at Cairo Jazz Club. As for Cairo Jazz Club 610, a lineup of Frankey & Sandrino, Innella, and Misty spinning the tunes for a massive electronic night.
When Friday comes, another dose of Christmas bazaars takes over, including Christmas Bazaar at Le Pacha Boat, Our Story, Our Craft at El Guizera Plaza, Christmas Shopping Brunch at Andiamo Lake House, and Christmas Market at Four Seasons Cairo Hotel at Nile Plaza. The Christmas spirit flows into the city in other forms, including a performance at St. George College entitled The Gift of Giving, and a Candlelight Christmas carols show at All Saints’ Cathedral.
Elsewhere, Ahmed Nazmi takes to the stage, along with his bass guitar for a round of tunes at ROOM Art Space Garden City, El Hadra chant some religious tunes at El Sawy Culturewheel, while megastar Elissa sings some of her classics at Must Opera House.
When the night grows older, DJ Mohasseb plays some progressive house at Cairo Jazz Club, while Cairo Jazz Club’s Block Party sees DJ Feedo spinning R&B and hip-hop. Offering the same genre, DJs, Doggy Dogg, and Mobbz, take to the decks at The Tap West as RetroGrade play some classic rock numbers at The Tap Maadi.
Saturday comes with more events; pop star Nancy Ajram, and Mahmoud El Esseily take to the stage at the GUC, Cairo Symphony Orchestra take to the pit for a round of classical pieces, Tom Tom play some numbers at ROOM Art Space Garden City, while Cairo Celebration Choir chant some carols at College de la Salle.
Later on, Spade of Hearts play some jazz numbers at The Tap West, Adam’s Apple take to the stage at The Tap East for a round of acoustic tunes, while DJs Issa & Assouad hits the decks at Cairo Jazz Club 610 to spin a selection of hip-hip songs. The weekend comes to an end, with El Dor El Awal taking to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club for a host of Arabic jazz songs.
