It’s the last weekend before Ramadan starts, so you may consider this edition of The Cairo Weekend Guide as the last call for partying hard, before all the bars and nightspots in the city either take a break or twist themselves to fit in this month’s mood. For now, let us not worry about tomorrow and stick to what we have at hand, here’s the deal:

Thursday begins with a classical music night at Osiris, where the centre’s string quartet take to the stage for a double header, an Egyptian folk night at El Dammah Theatre, where El Kaff El Aswany, perform a number of songs, while Arabic contemporary music is the game at ROOM Art Space, where local band, Gawy, take over.

When the night grows older, The Tap West gets cheesy with DJunkie hitting the decks on Cheeseballs, The Tap East hosts a hip-hop night, courtesy of DJs Soul M &Sewwes, while The Tap Maadi’s electronic music night, Elektronight, sees Ouzo and Sebzz spinning some tunes.

Electronic music is also on the menu at Cairo Jazz Club 610, where a lineup of Hisham Zahran, Niki Sadeki and Miss Melera is set to hit the decks. Mohandiseen’s Cairo Jazz Club sees a rock night, where local trio, The Woodpeckers set the mood with various covers and originals, before Hany Must and Glass Onion, takes over to cover some Beatles classics.

Friday brings more music, with iconic composer and pianist, Omar Khairat, taking to the River Hall’s stage at El Sway Culturewheel, Moroccan starlet, Sara Moullablad, alongside Rashed Fahim and Andre Segone, take to the stage at ROOM Art Space for a jazz night, while Blue Melons head to Yellow Umbrella’s stage for a live music night.

Elsewhere, local band, MassarEgbari, play some Arabic contemporary tunes at The Tap West, DJs Nakhla and Tamer Auf take to the decks on The Tap East’s Elektronight, Pandora take over at The Tap Maadi for a round of rock numbers, while Cairo Jazz 610 hosts a disco night, where A-Squared and Disco Misr flaunt their talents.

As for Saturday, Hana Afifi and the Gang, take to the stage at Yellow Umbrella to play a variety of jazz tunes, Ali El Haggar sings some of his classics at El SawyCulturewheel, while Noha Fekry and her band, Janan, take to the stage at ROOM Art Space for a rock/pop night.

Bidding this season adieu, Cairo’s most prominent nightspots are hosting special closing parties; Cairo Jazz Club 610’s sees Hisham Abbas and Ramy DJunkie hitting the stage, Cairo Jazz Club’s welcomes local band, El Dor El Awal, while Gu Bar’s season finale of Heshek Beshek sees belly dancer, Johara, and shaaby singer, El Leithy.

Alternatively, The Tap West welcomes MTM, Ahmed Sheba and Armen V, while The Tap East hosts a hip-hop night that features Mobbz and Brooklyn.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, check the whole lot on the Cairo 360 events page.
