The sporadic, blistering heat of the last few weeks seems to have finally settled and, as usual, there's plenty to see and do across Cairo over what is shaping up to be delightful weekend indeed.
On Thursday, LaidDaze kick off the weekend with their fourth event featuring Baher on warm up duties and DJing heavyweights Ame to complete the roster at the Omar Khayyam Boat, meanwhile, CJC hits with a lineup that features Hassan Ramzy as well as Cairo’s favourite Beatles cover band—Glass Onion.
Maadi’s watering hole, The Tap, hosts Kidmims; behind the decks for a night of fun tunes and dancing, while El Tanbura bring the traditional songs and dance of Port Said and Suez to El Dammah Theater.
Swedish group, TARABBAND, occupy the stage of El Sawy Culturewheel’s River Hall, while the Om Kalthoum Puppet Show recaptures the singer’s glory at the Wisdom Hall.
At the Fairmont Nile City, enjoy the delicious Seafood Festival at Napa Grill, then enjoy the sultry vocals of songstress Lana at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge, or catch the belly dancing talents of Soraya at Bab El Nil.
On Friday, Event Republic celebrate the arrival of summer with Gold in the City, featuring Dennis Kruissen, JazzyFunk and local DJ SHawky, meanwhile, Minus T and Man-O, two of Cairo’s most eclectic DJs finally combine forces in a back to back set at VENT.
CJC brings together two of the more active female DJs, Fairouz and Akladios, to warm up the decks for Nader Tahawy, while Maadi’s The Tap hosts the Latin Jazz tunes of Los Compadres.
Eat & Barrel hosts the season closing edition of Eat to the Beat featuring DJ Ouzo and violin player Azmy, meanwhile, El Sawy Culturewheel hosts the Agazty Festival for kids aged between 6-12 featuring arts and crafts, puppeteering and performances.
Vintage Bar & Lounge hosts its very own Karaoke Night, while belly dancing queen Soraya is in charge of the entertainment at Fairmont Nile City’s Bab El Nil.
On Saturday, Basheer brings his Nubian influenced vocals to CJC, while popular local band, Blues Note, take to the stage at The Tap.
Bamboo show some Lebanese Love on the dance floor tonight with residents Aly and Kiko, while Cavallini takes a trip down memory lane on Oldies Night.
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, under the conductorship of Islam El Hefnawy, performs works by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn at the Cairo Opera House.
New art exhibitions this week include ‘The Nile-A River of Continues Inspiration’ by celebrated Sudanese artist Mohamed Omar Khalil at Al Masar Gallery, as well as the group exhibition titled ‘Egyptian Hands’ at Art Corner.
Also on display is the ‘Connect the Dots’ group exhibition by Mahmoud Hamdi, Nahla Reda and Hakeem Abou-Kila at Ubuntu Art Gallery and the 17th Annual Collection at Picasso Gallery.
