Hello Cairo!

Revel in the glory of the three-day weekend, fellow Cairenes! While many have taken the chance to escape the city for a few days of sun, sea and sand, there’s plenty to do right here.

Thursday sees another edition of Electrum Records’ weekly party, Discotecture, at Tamarai, with local DJ, Mohamed Sadek, opening for popular Swiss duo, Animal Trainer.

Elsewhere on the nightlife scene, Alexandrian DJ, MadLou, debuts at Tipsy Bar & Lounge in Maadi, Tamer Auf takes to the stage at Downtow bar/art-space, VENT, and increasingly popular sibling duo, Gawdat, play at Cavallini in Heliopolis, while Buddha Bar hosts another festive Ladies’ Night.

There’s lots of live music, too, with silky-voiced crooner, Ahmed Harfoush, performing at Fairmont Nile City’s Saigon Restaurant & Lounge and Shady Ahmed and Glass Onion performing at Cairo Jazz Club. Meanwhile, Townhouse Gallery hosts an exciting line-up of live acts as part of the ADAD initiative.

If the only sounds you want to hear tonight is the flow of whiskey into a glass, Alchemy has your back with another edition of Molten Amber.

On Friday, viral sensation, Sharmoofers, will perform their first official gig at Al Azhar Park, while electronic musician, Maurice Louca, takes over the VENT stage.

Ahmed Harfoush performs for a second consecutive night at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge, El Sawy Culturewheel hosts separate gigs by popular local bands Shawre3na and Garmafoon.

On the club scene, Tamer Auf is back at Tipsy Bar & Lounge, DJ MadLou plays at Cairo Jazz Club and Cavallini goes all Lebanese with DJ Raouf and a surprise Lebanese music show – exciting, right?

There’s more fun at Tipsy Bar & Lounge on Saturday, with satirical band, Like Jelly, performing, while singer-songwriter, Malak, celebrates the release of EP, Alters, with a live performance and signing session at Virgin Megastore in Citystars.

Elsewhere, Basheer brings his Nubian-inspired music to Cairo Jazz Club, Ashara Gharby perform at El Sawy Culturewheel with a host of special guests and after-hours Giza club, Bamboo, is sharing the Lebanese Love.

In terms of art, new exhibitions this week are aplenty; ‘Heading South’ at Khan Fonoon, ‘Five Directions’ Al Kahila Art Gallery and ‘Swinging’ at Kafein.

There’s plenty more where all that came from – check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more gigs, parties, exhibitions and more!
