Cairo 360
Nowadays, people are complaining quite extensively about the hot weather, especially with the autumn season supposedly approaching. Nevertheless, we always try to look at the portion of the glass that is half full. And that starts with always planning the weekend with events that will take our mind off the heat. So, get ready for an entertainment-packed itinerary to fill up the upcoming days.
Thursday kicks off the weekend with an art-themed day, starting with the ‘Art Your Wall’ Exhibition at Safarkhan Gallery. Less than two hours later, we have the ‘Extension of Summer Collection’ Exhibition at Mashrabia Gallery, as well as the ‘The Collector’s Eye VI’ Exhibition at Ubuntu Gallery, all combining the diverse talents of various artists.
As we move on to the evening, the events increase more and more. First off, for any bookworms out there, the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo is hosting a discussion about Ashraf Youssef’s latest book, Khetat Taweelat Al Agal (Long-term Plans), right before a stand-up comedy show at Makan. The musical part of the night includes DJ Karkour with his pop hits at The Tap East; DJs Tony and Mimovitch at Bella Figura Lounge with their mashup tunes; and a special Move to the Groove night at Keji Egypt.
Friday resumes the fun with a relaxing spa treatment promotion at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, followed by Barry Iverson’s solo exhibition, The Tour, at Tintera. The afternoon concludes with a Summer Fiesta Shopping Bazaar at Maxim Mall, with a huge number of selected designers, handmade products, and school items.
A few hours after the sun sets, you can enjoy Medrar’s 9th Cairo Video Festival with panel talks and more. For theatre lovers, Falaki Theater brings you Mama, a social drama with a contemporary touch, followed by the National Arabic Music Ensemble at Cairo Opera House. Speaking of music, ROOM Art Space Garden City hosts an Elvis Presley tribute night with Elvis for a night of rock and roll. And no night is complete without food, so stop by Eat & Barrel for a mouth-watering Promotional Friday.
Saturday wraps up the weekend with some additional events, such as local band, El Hadra, at El Sawy Culturewheel with some beautiful religious music; Cairo Symphony Orchestra at Cairo Opera House with Russian melodies; instrumental trio, NOON, with their fusion of oriental, jazz, and rock music; and finally some lovely acoustic guitar playing and Cajon renditions with Toasted Kings at The Tap East. Oh, and for both children and adults, South Park Madinaty is bringing you the 9th edition of Souq Masr with the best and affordable products.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, check the Cairo 360 Events page for more things to do and places to go this weekend.
