Cairo 360
This week’s rough weather had us running back to our caves as soon as we got our work done, but we won’t let it back us down during the weekend. Come rain or shine, we have our minds set on enjoying what Cairo has to offer for the next couple of days.
Thursday begins with a Sufi night at Alrab3, courtesy of El Hadra, and at El SawyCulturewheel as well, where Amer El Touni and his band, El Mawlaweya El Masreya, take to River Hall’s stage. Meanwhile at Cairo Opera House’s Small Hall, legendary drummer Yehia Khalil takes to the stage for a round of jazz tunes, while El Dammah Theatre hosts another folk music night, where Asyad El Zar are in charge of music.
Speaking of folk music, Cairo Jazz Club hosts a doubleheader that sees Egyptian Project, and Karavan Sarai taking to the stage, while Doggy Dog, DJ Anis, and DJ Mobbz take to The Tap West’s decks for a hip-hop and R&B night.
The Tap East welcomes Turkey-based Bulgarian DJ, Ahmet Kilic to decks for some deep house tunes, before DJ Kashouty takes over for a round of up-beat pop songs, while The Tap Maadi is all about pop and pop/rock, where Hashem, and AbouAlam are on the menu. As for Cairo Jazz Club 610, local DJ Shiha takes to decks, before Berlin-based producer Kevin de Vries takes to decks, along with Icelandic duo Kiasmos.
When Friday comes, Yehia Khalil takes to the stage for another jazz night at Cairo Opera House’s Small Hall, while local band Sukoon perform at ROOM Art Space for a round of Arabic tunes that blends rock, funk, and jazz. Ali El Helbawyis on the River Hallstage for a contemporary Arabic music night at El SawyCulturewheel, while this edition of Darb 1718’s MazzikaXElSat7 sees local band The Sinatras taking to the stage to cover some Frankie classics.

It’s also a classic night at The Tap West, where Beatles cover band Glass Onionpump up the crowd before DJ Teddy takes over for a round of hip-hop and R&B songs. With the same genre, DJ Sotusura takes to the decks at The Tap Maadi, after Dubzy&Gaserplay some numbers from their album, Dare to Dream.Elsewhere, Ayman Nageeb takes to decks for a house music night at The Tap East, while Amro& the Big Bang Boogie play a round of covers, before Boogie Master,RamyDjunkie takes over.
As for Saturday, HegazyMetqal takes to Wisdom Hall’s stage for a round of folk tunes at El SawyCulturewheel, Youssef Abouzeid plays some electronic music at ROOM Art Space, while Cairo Opera House’s Main Hall hosts a classical music night, courtesy of Cairo Symphony Orchestra.
Elsewhere, Basata takes to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club for a contemporaryArabic music night, DJ Teddy spins some hip-hop and R&B tunes at The Tap Maadi, while DJ Kashouty drops some pop beats at The Tap East. Mada Masr celebrates its 5th anniversary at Cairo Jazz Club 610 with a lineup of Lekhfa, BaskootLelBaltageyya, High Dam, and Sadat. The Tap West closes the weekend with a jazz night, courtesy of Spade of Hearts.
