This weekend comes hand in hand with a heat wave that will have us all melting, but you think this will stop us from enjoying our days off? Absolutely not, just take care of yourself and keep it hydrated, and leave the rest to Cairo’s many events that are going to quench your thirst for fun. Here we go:

Thursday begins with the grand opening of ROOM Art Space’s new branchat The Spot Mall in New Cairo, which sees two bands taking to the stage; The Gypsy Jazz Project, and Awtar Quartet, while Abdeen take to 3elbt Alwan’s stage for a round of Oriental fusion tunes.

More Oriental music sets in with Oud duo, aka Ghasan El Youssef and Dina Abdel Hameed, playing classics at the Manasterly Palace, Khaled Selim singing various numbers at Cairo Opera House, and Hanan Madi singing her classics at Tahrir Cultural Center. 

Delving deeper into the night, Egyptian songstress Souma, along with Roushdy the percussionist, take charge of music at The Courtyard, Sa’d El Soghayer sings various lively tunes at Dusit Thani Lake View’s Layaly El Khedewi, While Bousy is on the menu at Sky Executive Resort’s El 7ara.

Friday brings a spectrum of Sufi nights at various places around the city courtesy of Tawasheeh at Alrab3, Zain Mahmoud at KMT House, Egyptian Project at Blue Nile’s Qamar El-Din, and El Hadra at El SawyCulturewheel.

Elsewhere, NesmaMahgoub covers a round of classics at Cairo Opera House, Basheer sings Nubian-inspired songs at Darb 1718, while American musician Ken Stringfellow serves a solo concert at El SawyCulturewheel.

Meanwhile, Ramy Sabry sings some of his hits at Galleria 40’s 3al Tawla, Medhat Salehtakes to the stage at Sky Executive Resort‘s El 7ara, while Ahmed and Mohamed Adaweya sing various sha’by tunes at Triumph Hotel’s Sahraya.

As for Saturday, local band Al-Safy sings some Arabic rock at El SawyCulturewheel, Cairo Symphony Orchestra plays a round of pieces by Rimsky Korsakov and others, while Armenian-Egyptian musician Georges Kazaziantakes to the stage at Tahrir Cultural Center for some numbers.

Sufi chanter Yassin El Tohamy takes to the stage at Cairo Opera House for a round of religious tunes, Ali El Abady&Khomassy El Ganoubserve some folk numbers at ROOM Art Space, while Nouran Aboutaleb is on the menu at this edition of Darb 1718’s MazzikaXElSat7.

Sealing the weekend, singer and songwriter Hakeem Kamal makes a debut at Bedayat, singing along with pianist Omar El Hawary, and Taht El Sefr’s lead guitarist Mohammed Ayman, while Mostafa Haggag sings a round of Arabic pop songs at Cairo Festival City Mall’s El Khema.
