Photography submissions have opened for the fourth edition of Cairo Photo Week, which will take place from the 8th of May to the 18th in Downtown. Cairo Photo Week is organised by Photopia Photography School to showcase outstanding shots from professional and emerging photographers from across the region. Applications are open until the 5th of March.
Share Your View with Photopia
On the fourth edition of Cairo Photo Week, applicants are invited to share their views with the theme of Finding the View. This theme encourages photographers to use their talents and instruments to narrate their own version of the world around them in visual and auditory mediums, meaning documenting what they see in Cairo with their vision and photography equipment and adding a sound that complements and backs up their narratives.
Applicants must submit their photos with related background music and sound as an essential component to be considered. Submissions are welcomed from Egyptian and Arab professional or emerging documentary photographers until the 5th of March. This is an open call to all photographers from across the region to submit narratives that represent all of us, emphasising the shared stories, challenges, and aspirations that we all experience.
A New Twist on Cairo Photo Week
This year’s exhibition promises visitors an audiovisual experience as all visuals will be paired with audio. This addition aims to complement the visual narrative to add more details to the story and create an enhanced and immersive experience for the visitors, marking a new interesting twist on the fourth edition of Cairo Photo Week.
Sard IV: Continuing a Tradition of Visual Storytelling
Sard is a photography exhibition coordinated by Photopia and is presented atCairo Photo Week. Sard presents shots from professional and emerging photographers that visually narrate the state of Egypt and the Arab region in several aspects. The exhibition tells stories extending beyond gallery walls, from realistic social stories to themes of youth, public spaces, and women, covering the region’s societal and economic aspects of life.
For the fourth edition of Cairo Photo Week, Sard IV will, for the first time, incorporate an audio element as part of the exhibition. This addition enriches the storytelling process, enhancing the narrative depth and offering the audience a more immersive, multi-layered experience.
