26 July Street Closes for a Year

Zamalek residents have been suffering for a few months now due to the construction of the new metro line.  Now, the time has come for Downtown residents to cope with similar circumstances as the 26 July Street in Downtown is set to be closed for a whole year.

The General Administration of Traffic in Cairo has announced that 26 July Street will be closed in the areas between its intersection with Talaat Harb St., and its intersection with Ramses St. This comes as part of the plan to continue building the third phase of the Metro. The aforementioned area will be closed for a year, between 11/8/2018 and until 10/8/2019.

Of course, this requires a lot of traffic adaptation, which is why the General Administration of Traffic in Cairo will assign all the required traffic services to facilitate the flow of traffic in the area. The streets and surrounding area will be adequately marked to indicate the existence of Metro related construction, to avoid any confusion to the residents and pedestrians.

Take note of this on your next Downtown commute, Cairenes. Stay safe, and stay savvy.
