The president of the 25th of January Hospital, Mohamed El Garhy, issued a press release on his Facebook page addressing the current dire circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic. He announced that the hospital, located in Sharqeya governorate, will be at the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s disposal, whether for quarantine, inspection, or treatment of suspected cases of COVID-19.
The hospital is enabling all its equipment, medical supplies, and medication, to the medical team that will be provided by the Ministry of Health to take full charge of the hospital during these hard times.
According to the press release, the organisation behind the hospital is set to provide its labs with test kits to do the testing, free of charge.
We’ve previously spoken to El Garhy, who told us that the hospital was built to create change. “During last year’s Ramadan month, Naguib Sawiris matched each pound that we received, and it amounted to 5 million pounds; that helped us reach the final stages,” shared El Garhy. The non-profit hospital is heavily reliant on donations, so you can also help them on their journey to expand beyond its 2,400 square metres of land that it currently holds by donating here.
