Ice cream is a definite summer staple; no one can argue with that. However, ice cream flavours have come a long way from the traditional mango, strawberry and chocolate varieties. For all of us who love to indulge in sweet treats, especially during summer, our favourite ice cream places are now offering a few new and unique options that are making us all drool. These fantastic ice cream flavours promise to challenge peoples’ palates and get them to see frozen desserts in new ways. So here are six must-try flavours in some of Egypt’s best ice cream spots!
Dara’s Ice Cream
Creamy, sizable, and flavourful, this is what Dara’s Ice Cream experience stands for. The flavours never fail to impress, from creamy Pistachio and Caramelised Almond to Salted Caramel Crunch and Peanut Butter. This summer, they have added a few unique flavours to their already creative menu: Banana Madness, Raspberry Crumble, Cherry Milk and Cake, amongst many more. Dara has spread her love for ice cream to six locations around the capital, and has now opened an Ice cream museum in the Northcoast.
Sno
Maadi’s favourite neighbourhood gelato place has now extended to New Cairo, and even opened up three spots in the Northcoast this summer. Sno has always been offering a fantastic array of delicious and creative gelato, and nowadays, they have added Reeses and Dulce de Leche alongside a wide range of vegan flavours.
Variegato
Another artisanal gelato place that opened in our capital a few years back is Variegato Gelato. Their gelato selection always tastes like elevated nostalgia. Their latest unique flavours range from Lemon Meringue Pie and Butter Pecan Pie to Dulce De Leche and Brownie Fudge. You can find them in Palm Hills and New Giza Club.
Gelato Mio
Gelato Mio is one of those Gelato pioneers that got us trying carrot orange, pomegranate, and even hibiscus gelato and sorbets. This season they have decided to freshen it up with refreshing mixes like Lemon Mint, Cinnamon Dates, and Kiwi Bananas. Safe to say, Gelato Mio has won in the Gelato game in Cairo, with branches open in Zamalek, Maadi, Heliopolis, Sheikh Zayed, and Ismaileya.
Stavolta
Authenticity is critical in Italian delicacies, and Stavolta is all about the authenticity of gelato. They offer gelatos and sorbets that are out of this world, from classical Italian flavours like Mascarpone to more Levantine ones like Tamarind. Bright looking and quite delicious, their Hibiscus, Popcorn, and Brownie gelato is a must-try!
