Fati’s Review: A TikTok Sensation Lands in District 5

The popular online doughnut shop, Fati’s, has opened its first pop-up store in District 5, providing customers with a sweet experience in person. Known for its creative flavours and vibrant pink aesthetic, here’s everything you need to know about Fatties’ pop-up store and the magic behind its flavours.

A Cosy Pop-Up with a Pink Twist

The moment you spot Fati’s, you’re greeted with soft pink hues and playful designs that give the space a vibrant and welcoming feel. While the line can be a little long, the upbeat music keeps the ambience lively and makes the wait more enjoyable. Located in District 5’s plaza, the outdoor atmosphere complements the location’s liveliness, making the experience even more delightful.

A Spot for Doughnut Lovers

Fati’s menu features a selection of signature doughnuts alongside coffee and hot chocolate. We sampled a variety of options inspired by our favourite desserts, including Ferrero Rocher, Bueno, Holiday Éclair, and Crème Brûlée doughnuts.

A Delightful Take on the Classics

Kicking off our experience with the Ferrero Rocher (EGP 110)was the ideal choice. Topped with crunchy hazelnuts and bits of Ferrero Rocher and engulfed in light, airy dough, the Ferrero Rocher doughnut was one of the highlights of our experience. It’s rich without being overwhelming and delivers just the right balance of flavour with an outstanding mix of textures that delights!

Came second, the Bueno doughnut (EGP 105) . Combining the creamy, nutty taste of Kinder Bueno with the soft, fluffy dough Fati’s is known for, it’s a comforting choice for anyone looking for a familiar flavour with a twist, especially with its milky backdrop that gives it a sense of warmth. Its chocolate flavour wasn’t too strong, with a hint of every aspect of the Kinder Bueno without being overpowered by chocolate or sugar.

Elevated Desserts Worth Trying

The most exciting part of the experience was seeing our favourite desserts made into doughnuts. We decided to take Fati’s staff recommendation and chose the doughnut versions of The Holiday Éclair and Crème Brûlée.

The Holiday Éclair (EGP 100) was the highlight of our visit. Filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, it offers a refreshing and fruity taste that feels like summer in a bite. This treat brings the sensation of a beach in August all year round, making it perfect for those who want to indulge in a sweet delight that isn’t overly sugary while still providing a balanced and satisfying experience.

For a more indulgent treat, the Crème Brûlée doughnut (EGP 85)features a delightful combination of textures with its caramelised, crunchy exterior and creamy filling. While the glaze may be a bit sweet and sticky for some, the filling provides a nice balance, making it a unique option for those looking to try something different.

360 Tip

Communicate your preferred level of sugar in desserts to the staff; they'll help you find the ideal option.

Best Bit

The Holiday Eclaire is our favorite on the menu. Also, the ambience was delightful, and the staff and service were super fast and friendly.

Worst Bit

The line is a little too long, especially on the weekends, since Fati's opening was much anticipated.
