Being among those who urge complete isolation until this massive wave of Coronavirus outbreak ebbs, we found ourselves falling into a paradox where the mind says avoid takeouts all together, the heart says “What about the local economy, and the individuals whose lives depend on it?”. At the same time, the belly yearns for some ice cream to cool it down.

And guess what? Of course, our heart and belly win, especially that local food outlets have heightened their precautionary measures to ensure the safety of both employees and the consumer. If you are like us, who try their hardest to keep away from delivery as much as possible yet fall victim to a craving every now and then, here’s a list of local ice cream places that deliver in Cairo:

Dara’s Ice Cream:

Two days ago, the renowned ice cream outlet announced on Instagram that its three branches, in Zamalek, New Cairo, and October/Sheikh Zayed are delivering for an extra 15LE. Delivery hours are from 12.00 PM to 12.00 AM. Here are Dara’s Instagram and Facebook page.  

Gelato Mio:                                                   

Gelato Mio, available in Zamalek, Heliopolis, and Maadi, has always offered a delivery service. If you’ve never tried it before, try out their Ricotta & Figs; a classic that you don’t want to miss. Here are Gelato Mio’s Instagram and Facebook page.

Stavolta Gelato:

Stavolta Gelato is home to some of the most innovative flavours, including hibiscus and halva. With several branches all over the city, both the Maadi and October branches deliver through contacting the venues directly, while the Heliopolis and New Cairo branches deliver through Uber Eats. Sultana Ice Cream:

One of the oldest local ice cream spots in town, Sultana Ice Cream offers staples like Vanilla & Croquant, as well as Pistachio & Mastic. Sultana has various branches across the city, in Haram, Mohandiseen, Heliopolis, and October. But you can rely on Otlob.com to get you what you want. Azza Ice Cream:

Alexandria’s famous dairy shop has an outlet in Mohandiseen, in Lebanon Square. Our personal favourite is Azza’s lemon flavour. Don’t forget to try their Couscous as well.

ElMadina ElMonawara:

In addition to its to-die-for rice pudding that we can’t get enough of, ElMadina ElMonawara, which was founded in 1989, has branches in Heliopolis, Maadi, Rehab City, New Cairo, and October. Check out its Facebook page and Instagram.

Variegato:

Located in Al Guizera Plaza, Variegato is open daily from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM, and delivers only in Sheikh Zayed and October. Here’s its Facebook page and Instagram.

Rigoletto:

Our childhood favourite never disappoints with its classic butterscotch and croquant flavour. Rigoletto also offer ice cream cakes and pastries – and it’s almost everywhere in the city, with two branches in Maadi, Zamalek, October, and Nasr City. Mandarine Koueider:

One of the first to introduce the yoghurt with berries flavour, and listed among the best places that offer ice cream, Mandarine Koueider has several branches across the city, including Korba, Sheraton, Rehab City, New Cairo, Citystars Mall, Zamalek, and Maadi.
