Zawya Cinema’s 10th anniversary is right around the corner, coming on the 12th of March! As usual, they’re hosting a set of special screenings to celebrate the event. Over the past ten years since opening its doors, Zawya Cinema has hosted ten editions of the Panorama of the European Film, showcasing award-winning feature and documentary productions from across Europe, and eight editions of Zawya Shorts for award-winning short films, among many other special screening events. This year, their anniversary screenings are scheduled to begin on the 20th of March, promising an exciting programme.

A haven for cinema enthusiasts, there is truly no better place to celebrate one’s love for cinema than Zawya. Known for screening award-winning and nominated features, including foreign language films, film buffs in Egypt have flocked to this celebrated theatre for years to watch treasures you wouldn’t typically find in your average movie theatre on the big screen. Having curated 160 film programmes and showcased 2,000 films, Zawya is truly a treasure in the world of Egyptian cinema.

For their 10th anniversary, we can expect special screenings, film programmes, and events, including their eighth edition of “Zawya Shorts”. They are also introducing an out-of-competition section dedicated to showcasing previous award-winning films from the programme’s past editions, as well as their regular competition section, which includes 33 films this year.
