Mohamed Ramadan has been quite the controversial figure for some time now. We won’t get into that right now as such a debate will consume a lot of time. However, we will focus and recognize one particular branch in his career, which is taking to the stage as a singer. Even though he is prominently known for his movies, his music videos cause quite the stir nowadays with fans of different age groups. It seems to be working, because we just found out that Mohamed Ramadan is among this year’s AFRIMA nominees.
For those who aren’t familiar with the name, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) promote the distinct rich African music worldwide. Its mission is to produce an international platform to celebrate our cultural heritage and values, as well as creating a sustainable growth of the African music industry.
Back to Ramadan, the actor/singer is nominated for African Fans’ Favorite for his track, Mafia, which achieved tremendous success, earning 150 million viewers since its release 8 months ago. He is the only Egyptian on the list, competing with 9 fellow continental artists, including Davido from Nigeria, Lbenj from Morocco, Magasco from Cameroon, and others.
Other categories include a host of Egyptian artists, including Cairokee, whose song Kan Lak Ma’aya has earned them a place among the nominees in the Best Artist, Duo, or Group in African Rock category, as well as Best Male Artist in North Africa. Tamer Hosny’s Naseny Leh is also taking over various categories, like Songwriter of the Year in Africa, Best African Video, and Song of the Year in Africa.
The 6th edition of the awards is set to take place from the 20th till the 23rd of November. We can’t wait to hear the results. You can vote now via this link.
