In an effort to stay protected from the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Egyptian government imposed a curfew that takes place every day from 7:00 PM. Last Saturday, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched virtual tours that will enable viewers to explore Egypt’s ancient history from the comfort of their homes. In collaboration with Harvard University, the ministry published a tour of the tomb of King Khufu’s granddaughter, Queen Meresankh III. Pictures show her lavish burial that includes statues, furniture, jewellery, and clothing.

Under the theme of “Experience Egypt from Home”, the ministry is set to launch a new virtual tour today at 7:00 PM that will showcase Egypt’s Coptic Monastery in Sohag governorate, The Red Monastery. A virtual tour of Muez Street’s El Sultan Barquq Mosque and School will be launched tomorrow, while Tuesday sees a tour of Ben Ezra Synagogue in Old Cairo. These tours will be available on the ministry’s social media platforms.

Stay safe, and stay home!
