This article is mainly for people who are keeping up with Hollywood. Yesterday was the annual benefit event, The Met Gala, which is considered to be one of the world’s biggest fashion events.

It’s the only time where celebrities receive no points for seeming low-maintenance or too over-the-top. It’s said that no one is too cool for the Met Gala, as each year has a theme that sends out an artistic message. Celebrities love to go crazy with their outfits making us feel a bit “weirded out”.

Last year, the theme was all about “Catholic Imagination”, as for this year the theme is “Camp” as it was inspired by US writer and political activist, Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes on Camp”.

Finding four celebrities on the red carpet giving us that Egyptian vibe with their costumes and entrances made us make a little happy dance in our hearts.

1- Winnie Harlow

Harlow wore a Tommy Hilfiger dress that looked like a belly dancer’s outfit borrowed from Egyptian icon Samia Gamal.

2- Billy Porter

His entrance involved him being carried in with three gold men on each side. The actor had an Egyptian-inspired look as he borrowed Cleopatra’s soul for a day.

3- Kim Kardashian

Not only did Billy Porter pull of that Cleopatra look, but Kim Kardashian’s after-party outfit also gave us that vibe that she wanted the silky hair of Cleopatra with her dazzling headpiece.

4- Katy Perry

Katy Perry wore a chandelier as a head piece. This, of course, is something that Egyptians are more than familiar with; indeed, Egyptian belly dancers (more accurately known as 3awalem) have rocked stages, whilst wearing chandeliers as head pieces.
