Dish of the Week: Fesikh

Ladies and gentlemen, and all the readers in between, we are proud to announce the start of a series that we are super excited about: Dish of the week! In this weekly series, we’ll be selecting a dish that describes the mood we felt as the week went by. While we understand that the selected dish might never be unanimous, since everyone has a different taste in food, we’re playing it by ear. And, we have to be biased in terms of the dishes we choose as it alludes to how we’ve felt for the week.

Upon discussion, our team brainstormed the perfect food that personified our experience with the past week, and we have landed on fesikh. We apologise in advance for all the fesikh lovers out there, but the consensus is that we’re not a big fan of the fesikh that was the essence of this week.

As fesikh can never be eaten as it is, you have to incorporate a few vegetables to be a bit more tolerable. Whether that be lime juice, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, or however you like it, fesikh shouldn’t be eaten alone. Just like the dish in question, we tried to dress up this week in every way possible, but we couldn’t get rid of its heavy stench.

It has generally felt like the week passed by incredibly slowly, with there being an air of unproductivity and lethargy that roamed around the office. Despite us pushing on and making it through this smelly week, it felt like we were fighting a lost battle.

The week wasn’t all bad, though; we had a mini, warm (but admittedly belated) Valentine’s celebration around the office, with some of us celebrating outside with our loved ones as well. We also couldn’t have made it through the week without our team being there for each other, having random laughs, and making jokes out of tough situations. Maybe fesikh isn’t so bad after all!
