Bringing forth a plethora of artistic events, the Downtown Contemporary Art Festival (D-CAF) is scheduled to kick off its 9^th edition on the 20^th of March, lasting until the 10^th of April. In collaboration with Al Ismaelia, the festival is set to take over various locations across Downtown Cairo with exciting events ranging from exhibitions, interactive installations, talks, performances, and so much more.

“For the last eight years, we at D-CAF have been striving to brighten this grim picture with a yearly dose of hope. We are proud to be the beacon of hope that illuminates your days for a few weeks every year,” said General Manager and Artistic Director, Ahmed El Attar. “We are proud to break the barriers that surround us by bringing artists, creative professionals, and audiences from all over the world together in the heart of Cairo.”

Not only home-grown talents are expected to contribute to this year’s edition of D-CAF, but there will also be acts from Palestine, Romania, Netherlands, Jordan, Brazil, France, Lebanon, Morocco, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, and the UK.

“D-CAF is keen on bringing people together through an exclusive program of contemporary theatre, dance, and music performances, visual arts exhibitions, film screenings and discussions,” said Al Ismaelia’s Chairman, Karim Shafei.“The festival also intends to draw the attention of young generations to Downtown Cairo as it continues to shape a significant portion of Egypt’s modern history, deeply engraved in its collective culture.”
