Once we stepped inside Ahmed Nadas Fifth Settlement branch, we were immediately led to our table, where a spread of fresh juices and water bottles were already waiting. It set the tone for what felt less like a simple dinner and more like a carefully curated, generous Egyptian feast. Menus followed shortly after, and with so many tempting options, we decided to go all in and sample a wide variety of traditional dishes.

The atmosphere struck a balance between cosy and lively, with friendly staff moving quickly between tables and a steady buzz of conversation filling the space. Service was fast, welcoming, and efficient, adding to the overall comfort of the experience.

Starting Strong: Soups & Mezze

We began with a warm bowl of orzo soup (40 EGP), a comforting classic that felt like the perfect homemade start; light, soothing, and subtly flavourful. The yoghurt with cucumber (25 EGP) was cooling and smooth, acting as the perfect palate cleanser, especially when paired with the warm bread basket (30 EGP), which tied the entire mezze experience together.

Then came a generous selection of mezze, each bringing its own personality to the table. The tahini (22 EGP) was creamy and nutty, while the baba ghanoush (20 EGP) delivered a rich, smoky depth that lingered pleasantly. The green salad (20 EGP) added a refreshing crunch, perfectly balancing the heavier dips, while the seasoned tomatoes (20 EGP) and dakous (20 EGP) brought a tangy, slightly spiced kick that elevated every bite.

Classic Comfort: Traditional Favourites

The table quickly transformed into a celebration of Egyptian comfort food. The stuffed grape leaves (75 EGP) were tender, tangy, and packed with flavour, each bite perfectly balanced. Then there was the mombar (170 EGP), it was stuffed with spiced rice and herbs with enough crispiness from the outside that with each bite we couldn’t help but sigh in satisfaction.

The fatta (80 EGP) came rich and indulgent, layered with bold garlic and vinegar notes, while the molokhia tagine (140 EGP) delivered that unmistakable silky texture and garlicky aroma that instantly transports you back to home-cooked meals.

And then came one of the highlights of the night: the baked rice with pigeon (380 EGP). Crispy on the outside and decadently rich on the inside, topped with a creamy piece of Qishta, it was everything youd expect from a well-executed Egyptian classic: comforting, hearty, and deeply satisfying.

Meat LoversTerritory: Grills & Hearty Plates

For those who appreciate bold, meat-heavy dishes, Ahmed Nada does not hold back. The kofta (½ portion – 480 EGP) was tender and flavourful, while the shish tawook (¼ portion – 170 EGP) was grilled to a smoky, slightly charred perfection.

The liver with butter (560 EGP) stood out with its rich, intense flavour, melting into a silky, indulgent bite. Equally bold was the rokak with minced meat topped with cream (160 EGP), offering a more traditional, rustic taste for those who enjoy deeper, heavier flavours with a twist.

Meanwhile, the grape leaves tagine with trotters (400 EGP) leaned fully into that slow-cooked richness, delivering a dish that felt unapologetically traditional and deeply satisfying.

A Twist on the Familiar

Among the classics, a few dishes added a subtle twist. The pasta with Alexandrian sausage, aka mbakbaka (150 EGP), combined comforting carbs with a bold, spiced sausage flavour, creating a dish that felt both familiar and slightly unexpected.

Few of us knew about this plate but it was heavenly and worth every penny. The sausage paper with vegetables (470 EGP) followed suit, packed with flavour and offering a satisfying, crispy-meets-juicy bite.

Signature Moments & Viral Energy

What truly sets Ahmed Nada apart, however, is the experience itself. The restaurant has been going viral for a while now, largely thanks to its now-famous Ahmed Nada song on TikTok.

And its not just hype, it’s part of the dining ritual. Every time someone orders molokhia, the song plays, accompanied by a lively pouring show that instantly grabs the attention of the entire restaurant. Its theatrical, playful, and undeniably fun, turning a simple dish into a moment of shared excitement that energises the whole space.

Ahmed Nada delivers more than just food; it offers a full sensory experience rooted in Egyptian tradition, elevated by atmosphere and energy. The dishes are fresh, well-executed, and rich in flavour, creating a nostalgic journey through familiar favourites.
